SMG is seeking a Senior Safety Advisor in Lebanon, Indiana.  Travelers will be accepted for this project. Per diem is available.


The key functions of this position are managing teams/departments and providing oversight of program execution and ownership.


Overview of Job Responsibilities

  • Manage teams/departments, oversight of program execution, and program ownership
  • Support project leadership with safety on a mega construction project
  • Partner with the project team to support the proper execution of all local/State/and Federal safety requirements
  • Serve as a liaison between the client and contractors, fulfilling operating procedures and safety policies
  • Partner with the project team and all trade partners to build and maintain a safety culture aligned with the client's vision
  • Conduct safety observations and establish appropriate corrective actions for all unsafe conditions or practices identified during field visits
  • Keep stakeholders informed of the safety performance of the contractors working on the project
  • Facilitates Incident Reporting Procedures
  • Provide safety "boots on the ground" resources for the client to ensure program execution
  • Provide coaching to contractors when gaps are identified and communicate safety expectations
  • Influence the proper execution of safety plans and participate in event investigations

Requirements

  • 10+ years of construction safety experience
  • Three-plus years of experience managing teams/departments, overseeing program execution, and managing program ownership
  • Previous Commissioning experience
  • Degree in Safety or related fields
  • Previous safety leadership experience
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Course

Physical Demands of the job may include

  • Moving about long distances
  • Ascending/Descending stairs and ladders
  • Remaining in a stationary position for a prolonged period
  • Working in extreme weather
  • Being exposed to loud noises
  • Wearing personal protective gear correctly
