Position Summary
The Operations Specialist supports day-to-day operations to ensure efficient, compliant, and high-quality service delivery. This role serves as a key liaison between drivers, operations leadership, customer service, and administrative teams to maintain workflow accuracy, resolve issues in real time, and drive operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily operational activities across assigned lines of business (Front Load, Rear Load, Roll-Off, or ASL)
- Monitor route performance, service completion, and driver productivity
- Assist with dispatch coordination, route adjustments, and service issue resolution
- Review and validate operational data including route sheets, service logs, and system entries
- Serve as a point of contact for drivers regarding routing, service questions, and operational concerns
- Partner with customer service to resolve missed pickups, service delays, and customer escalations
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and DOT requirements
- Track and report key performance metrics (KPIs) such as service efficiency, downtime, and route completion
- Assist with onboarding coordination for drivers including communication of schedules, routes, and expectations
- Support equipment and asset tracking, including reporting maintenance needs
- Identify opportunities to improve operational processes, reduce inefficiencies, and enhance service quality
- Maintain accurate documentation and records in company systems
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 2+ years of operations, logistics, dispatch, or route management experience preferred
- Experience in waste management, transportation, or service-based industries preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams); experience with routing or dispatch systems preferred
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt to changing operational needs
Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based with frequent interaction with drivers and operations staff
- May require early mornings, occasional evenings, or weekend availability based on business needs
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Occasional walking in operational or yard environments
