About the Role


Position Title: Network Administrator

 

Compensation: Full-Time, Salary Exempt commensurate with experience

Scope & Responsibilities of Network Administrator: (Not limited to)

The Network Administrator will be reporting to the Network, Systems, and Cybersecurity Manager. Under regular supervision, this role will be responsible for designing, implementing, configuring, and maintaining the organization's network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and other network appliances. This role will need to monitor network performance, diagnose issues, and implement solutions to ensure reliable and secure connectivity across the organization. When network duties are not the primary focus, this role will assist with Systems Administrator responsibilities including server management, user support, and infrastructure maintenance. This role is also a part of the Cybersecurity Incident Response Team, helping to react, triage, and remediate any Cybersecurity issues as they arise, and will be involved in ensuring that the Cybersecurity Incident Response Plan is maintained and strengthened over time.

  • Design, implement, configure, and maintain network infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, and other network appliances.
  • Monitor and analyze network performance, utilization, and availability to maintain uptime of critical business systems and infrastructure.
  • Diagnose and resolve network connectivity, performance, and configuration issues in a timely manner.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute network infrastructure upgrades, expansions, and future utilization planning.
  • Manage and maintain network security policies, access controls, and segmentation in alignment with cybersecurity standards.
  • Responsible for Planning, Implementing, Managing, and Maintaining Datacenter and network rack technologies (including but not limited to Network Infrastructure, Servers, and Power).
  • Implement and support cloud-based networking systems and connectivity including but not limited to Microsoft Azure networking, VPN gateways, and hybrid connectivity solutions.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to network infrastructure, including topology diagrams, specifications, policies, and procedures.
  • Utilize scripting tools such as Microsoft PowerShell to automate and efficiently manage network and systems tasks.
  • Participate and help coordinate planning and organization of network infrastructure upgrades and future utilization.
  • Assist with Systems Administrator duties as needed, including: building, updating, troubleshooting, and maintaining server and client hardware systems; managing Active Directory including Group Policy, User and Group management, and Domain Administration; performing and maintaining backup systems critical to the business; implementing and supporting physical and virtual servers (including OS support, patching, and third-party software maintenance).
  • Implement and support cloud-based systems including but not limited to Email, Mobile Device Management, Spam Filtering, Awareness Training, and Microsoft Azure.
  • Provide escalation support and work side by side with interns, help desk technicians, and system engineer technicians.
  • Provide Helpdesk Assistance to End Users when needed.
  • Train employees in hardware and software systems as applicable.
  • Research, evaluate, and implement enterprise network hardware and software solutions, network-based projects, and upgrades.
  • Review and validate network data and configurations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience for Network Administrator:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of prior work experience in network administration or a related IT role.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent) are a plus.

 

Other Qualifications of Network Administrator:

  • Strong working knowledge of networking protocols and technologies including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, BGP, OSPF, and VPN.
  • Experience configuring and managing enterprise-grade network hardware (switches, routers, firewalls).
  • Support Cybersecurity Software packages and partners (including Endpoint Protection, Firewall, SIEM, DLP, and others).
  • Technical role as part of the Cybersecurity Incident Response Team - Analyzing, Reporting, and Responding to detected Cyber Incidents.
  • Maintains Cybersecurity Monitoring Operations; proactively monitoring the network environment using available tools.
  • Assists with planning and designing security solutions and enhancing existing procedures of the Cybersecurity Incident Response Plan.
  • Proactively identify improvement opportunities and make recommendations to IT Management.
  • Prepare and present recommendations for network enhancements and/or modifications.
  • Familiarity with Systems Administration tasks including server management, Active Directory, and backup systems.
  • Participate in continuous education to stay current on the latest networking technologies and security risks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Some travel may be required.
