The Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Stélmexw (Squamish People) continue to reside in the area now described as the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. The largest proportion of Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw Members live in several urban reserve communities in the present-day cities of Vancouver, North and West Vancouver and the municipality of Squamish, B.C. Over 47 per cent of the more than 4,050 Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw Members live on-reserve, and membership is determined by guidelines set out in the Squamish Nation Membership Code. The Nation has never ceded or surrendered title to its lands, rights to its resources or the power to make decisions within its territory.

Join the Chén̓chenstway Human Resources Department as Shared Administrative Support, providing essential reception, administrative, and clerical services across Squamish Nation departments. This is a unique opportunity to support a wide variety of teams and services that strengthen our Nation and community.

Reporting to the Manager, Talent Acquisition, this shared-services role provides administrative support to departments based on operational needs. You will be a key point of contact for employees, community members, and external partners while ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of administrative functions. Rooted in professionalism, collaboration, and respect, this role requires strong organizational skills, adaptability, and a commitment to confidential and culturally respectful service delivery.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide front-line reception services, including operating the switchboard, answering phones, greeting visitors, and responding to inquiries.
  • Coordinate administrative and clerical support functions for various Squamish Nation departments.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail, email correspondence, messages, and calendars.
  • Support data entry, cheque requisitions, purchase orders, filing, and document management.
  • Assist with maintaining office supplies and coordinating supply orders.
  • Ensure reception and common office areas remain organized, welcoming, and professional.
  • Maintain office security by following established procedures and controlling access through reception areas.
  • Build knowledge of assigned departments, key contacts, and operational processes to provide effective support.
  • Collaborate with Directors, Managers, and team members to support departmental objectives.
  • Provide coverage and support to other administrative team members as needed.
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Perform additional administrative duties as required.

What We’re Looking For

  • Completion of Grade 12. Additional training or coursework in administration, customer service, office systems, or related areas is an asset.
  • 6–12 months of related experience in administrative support, customer service, office administration, record keeping, filing, data entry, or similar work.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications and internet-based systems at an intermediate level.
  • Experience working with large, computerized database systems; JD Edwards experience is considered an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with a professional and adaptable communication style.
  • High emotional intelligence, patience, integrity, and the ability to remain composed in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to communicate information clearly, tactfully, and diplomatically.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Positive, collaborative, and team-oriented approach to work.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw history, culture, customs, land, and People is preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and directly related experience may be considered.

Wage Rate: $24.80 - $30.25

Candidates are typically offered compensation between the beginning to the midpoint of the range. We are committed to providing a fair and equitable package that reflects the value an individual brings to the organization.
