Production Scheduler

General Statement/Purpose of Job:
The Production Scheduler is responsible for (1)creating and manipulating customer orders and production jobs, (2)checking materials and resource capacity to accurately schedule production, and (3)communicating within and outside of the department to complete order processing. ILLUMUS’s software system, Epicor, is used heavily to handle these functions. The Production Scheduler has an advanced understanding of all scheduling functions and is self-sufficient when dealing with customer requests, process exceptions, decision-making within scheduling situations, expedited orders, and troubleshooting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Understand the general order fulfillment process and the different Epicor production modules used to do so
- Work toward exceeding all timeliness and delivery goals for both internal and external customers
- Demonstrate proficiency in job responsibilities to use time productively and efficiently
- Participate in continuous improvement activities

- Perform functions within the following general areas:
- Creating and Manipulating Customer Orders/Production Jobs
- Create orders and jobs through the order fulfillment process
- Modify all aspects of orders and jobs when required (dates, quantities, etc.)
- Work within Epicor software to maintain workflow
- Communicate with other departments as needed regarding order processing
- Use pre-defined logic and critical thinking to choose location, dates, and methods
- Production Scheduling Basic Functions
- Check material availability and communicate shortages
- Follow logic of resource capabilities to assign jobs to assembly lines
- Understand resource capacity and calculate earliest start date for job assemblies
- Analyze stock demand, create and schedule jobs
- Communicating Within and Outside Scheduling Team
- Understand Scheduling’s role in the Operations department
- Field requests from other departments and accurately answer in a timely manner
- Proactively update Scheduling Supervisor of daily progress
- Develop scheduling plans for larger orders and report to Scheduling Supervisor
- Communicate with other departments when additional information is required
- Communicate with internal customers to ensure continuous improvement in schedule quality
- Make decisions on changes to the schedule, resource assignments, and schedule adjustments based on knowledge of production process
- Ability to learn and master all Epicor production and scheduling modules currently in use
- Ability to learn and master all order fulfillment and production processes
- Review production schedules to ensure quality
- Intermediate or better troubleshooting of problems that arise through order entry and scheduling processes
- Handle exceptional requests and involve appropriate parties
- Understand and speak to team’s performance metrics
- Proficiency with and ability to use Excel to proactively plan and analyze
- Critical thinking and ability to identify correct/incorrect process execution required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Average or better proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Outlook
- Experience in manufacturing a plus
- Experience with ERP software a plus
- Experience in manufacturing planning a plus
- High energy level with ability to take initiative.
- Strong desire to improve personally
- Attention to detail
- Able to work in a team setting
- Good computer skills
- Good communication skills
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks while remaining alert.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- HS diploma or equivalent preferred.

For the most part the work environment includes ambient outside temperatures, naturally lit work areas and traditional warehouse equipment as found in a typical warehouse environment. The performance of this position requires the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses.

Day Shift -Monday-Friday and occasional Saturdays based on company operation needs.
