About The Company
The Coalition for Responsible Community Development (CRCD) is a place-based nonprofit community development corporation in South Los Angeles. Mission & History Our mission is to better sustain, coordinate, and improve local planning, development, and community services that address the needs of low-income and working-class residents and small businesses of South Los Angeles. Our work is rooted in a philosophy of coalition-building and collaboration with residents and other stakeholders to jointly create a lasting impact in the community. We focus on three program areas in conjunction with the development of affordable and permanent supportive housing: - Workforce for Adults and Youth - Housing and Support Services - Entrepreneur and Small Business Services Founded in January 2005 by neighborhood residents and community leaders, our goal is to strengthen the economic vitality of South Los Angeles and improve the quality of life for youth and the community. CRCD received its federal tax-exempt status as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation in December 2005. Fiscal sponsorship and operational support were generously provided by the Los Angeles Conservation Corps through July 2006. Today, CRCD is committed to our mission and moving forward with a dedicated board of directors, advisory board, and staff. CRCD is funded by a combination of grants, earned income, and generous donations.
About the Role

Description

Under the direction of the VCN YouthSource Manager, the Career Pathways Coordinator will provide one-on-one academic / training / employment services to opportunity youth in South Los Angeles who are preparing to join the workforce. The Career Pathways Coordinator will connect members and alumni to apprenticeship programs; assist them to understand their choices for post-secondary education, and career training. The Career Pathways Coordinator will also be responsible for establishing and strengthening relationships with academic institutions, government agencies, WorkSource centers, businesses and any entity that can provide commitment/resources of employment and/or career opportunities.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build relationships with universities, colleges; assist potential candidates in completing applications and provide assistance completing enrollment process.

• Coordinate the college and employment readiness training component for CRCD workforce development programs.

• Host and coordinate the college corner centrally located at the VCN YouthSource Center

• Coordinates a variety of events and programs (e.g. student assessments, classroom presentations, career fairs, college visits, fieldtrips, student placement and follow up, teacher and counselor in-services, etc.) for the purpose of supporting a smooth transition from high school to post-secondary training and/or employment

• Build relationships with prospective employers, including construction trade unions, transportation, and public works fields; stay informed of prerequisites for union apprenticeships and other employment opportunities

• Coordinate weekly work readiness workshops and sessions

• Facilitate FASFA Workshops

• Facilitate and conduct career exploration assessments and inventories

• Conduct case conference sessions with the Vernon-Central/LATTC WorkSource Center

• Provide placement retention and intervention support for all exited youth for a minimum of 12 months (4 quarters).

• Track and document 2nd and 4th quarter placements.

• Uphold CRCD’s Mission Statement and 5 Year Strategic Plan


Requirements

• Associates degree and three to four years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Familiarity with the disconnected and opportunity youth population is a plus

• Knowledge of database management and quality control process

• Reliable, flexible team player who works well with minimal supervision, who has a good work ethic, and an ability to set and maintain personal boundaries

• Current California driver license with no points

• Experience verifying WIOA eligibility and delivering WIOA services

• Understanding and experience of implementing the 14 WIOA program elements

• Experience entering data into the JobsLA system

• Experience in registering or enrolling youth into community college

• Fluent in case management facilitation

• Experience in facilitating group workshops

• Understanding and knowledge of education disparities in the Vernon-Central community

• Proficient in reading and writing


This is not a work from home role, this position reports to work 5 days a week.




SALARY

$50,000-$55,000 annually
