About the Role

Job Overview

The Technology Solutions & Partnerships Manager – China is responsible for defining and executing Weatherford's technology strategy, localization roadmap, and commercialization approach within the Chinese market. This role serves as a key driver of market growth by ensuring Weatherford technologies are effectively positioned, adapted to local customer requirements, and successfully commercialized through a combination of direct sales, strategic partnerships, licensing, and localized manufacturing models.

The successful candidate will lead technology localization initiatives, develop and manage strategic partnerships, support market expansion, and drive the adoption of Weatherford technologies across China while ensuring the protection of intellectual property, maintenance of quality standards, and preservation of brand integrity. This role requires a strong combination of technical expertise, commercial acumen, market knowledge, and stakeholder management capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute Weatherford's China technology strategy in alignment with market opportunities and business objectives.
  • Identify and assess technologies suitable for localization, licensing, co-development, and commercialization.
  • Position current and future Weatherford technologies effectively within the Chinese energy market.
  • Lead technology customization and localization initiatives to address local operating conditions, customer requirements, and cost competitiveness.
  • Develop and maintain a technology roadmap aligned with customer needs, market trends, and business priorities.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support innovation programs that enhance technology performance and market differentiation.
  • Strengthen Weatherford's intellectual property position while ensuring compliance with corporate technology governance standards.
  • Identify, evaluate, negotiate, and manage strategic partnerships across manufacturing, service delivery, technology development, and commercialization.
  • Develop partner ecosystems that support market access, localized manufacturing, technology deployment, and business growth.
  • Ensure Weatherford retains governance and control over technology, intellectual property, quality standards, technical compliance, and brand reputation.
  • Lead co-development programs with partners to address local technical challenges and market requirements.
  • Identify and qualify local suppliers, manufacturers, and factories capable of supporting technology localization and production requirements.
  • Develop and implement localized supply chain strategies to improve competitiveness, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Drive cost optimization initiatives while maintaining quality, reliability, and delivery performance.
  • Develop and execute a hybrid go-to-market strategy combining direct Weatherford sales, licensing arrangements, and partner-led commercialization models.
  • Define and manage market segmentation across direct, partner-led, and hybrid business opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain commercial plans covering equipment sales, manufacturing partnerships, licensing models, and technology deployment strategies.
  • Support customer engagement activities through technical positioning, solution development, and value proposition creation.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams to drive technology adoption, customer acquisition, and market penetration.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities that support sustainable growth within China.
  • Monitor and drive commercial performance across direct and partner-led channels.
  • Evaluate partner effectiveness and implement corrective actions, development plans, or partnership adjustments where necessary.
  • Track key performance indicators related to revenue generation, technology adoption, localization effectiveness, cost reduction, and market growth.
  • Provide market intelligence and strategic recommendations to support long-term business planning and competitive positioning.
  • Ensure successful execution of Weatherford's technology commercialization and market expansion objectives within China.

 

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of upstream oil & gas operations, technology deployment, and product lifecycle management.
  • Knowledge of technology commercialization, licensing models, and market adoption strategies.
  • Experience with manufacturing localization, supply chain development, and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of strategic partnerships, joint development programs, and ecosystem management.
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to translate technical solutions into customer value and business outcomes.
  • Knowledge of intellectual property management, technology governance, and quality assurance principles.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning capabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively within cross-functional, multicultural, and matrix organizations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in engineering, technology, product development, digital solutions, operations, or technology commercialization.
  • Experience within the Oil & Gas, Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS), Underground Gas Storage (UGS), or related energy sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of the Chinese energy market, oilfield services industry, operators, and service companies.
  • Proven experience in strategic partnerships, manufacturing strategies, technology deployment, and commercialization.
  • Demonstrated success in driving technology adoption, business growth, and market development initiatives.
  • Experience working with local and international stakeholders across technical, commercial, and operational functions.
