About the Role
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assembles and disassembles National Oilwell Varco proprietary and other proprietary oilfield equipment.
- Reads a design drawing and assemble accordingly.
- Perform Pressure Testing (Hydro, Gas) for Choke assemblies and Functional Testing to actuators as specified by company procedures.
- Reading and filling traceability documents and testing charts.
- Torques nut bolts, and cap screws by using torquing instruments and following torquing procedure and requirements.
- Participates and identify root cause of assembly and testing failures.
- Removes small quantities of metal with hand files, scrapers, grinders to produce close fit between parts.
- Records instrument readings as required for test procedures or company requirements.
- Disassembles various equipment for salvage of parts.
- Reports any material discrepancies or material defects to area supervisor.
- Operates lifting devices for movement of parts and other equipment as needed.
- Communicates with supervisor, engineers, production control, quality, and other shop personnel as it relates to the job.
- Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment as required.
- Records all details of the part (Heat number, material grade, part number, WO/PO number, etc.)
- Adhere and comply with state and federal law, the Company ISO Quality Program and procedures, Company policies and Safety and Environmental Regulations.
- May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
FUNCTIONAL/TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Diploma in relevant subject.
- Work Experience; 2-3 years in assembly and pressure testing.
- Must have general mechanical and/or assembly experience with rotating equipment.
- Mechanical problem-solving ability and troubleshooting skills is a must.
- Using impact wrenches, torque instruments and various other air tools and hand tools.
- Competent in operating lifting devices.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to communicate in English (both written and oral) as it relates to the job.
- Must be willing and able to work flexible shifts and changing work schedules.
- Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, and division for the purpose of material take offs and fabrication.
