Miami Children’s Museum was incorporated as the Miami Youth Museum in 1983. In 2003, the Museum opened its current home, a 56,500 square foot facility in the City of Miami. Today, we are recognized as one of the 10 largest children's museums in the country and the only children’s museum in Miami-Dade County. The Museum provides hands-on interactive educational experiences to approximately 445,000 children and their families each year. We aim to serve all children and families who live in South Florida, embracing the diversity of our community. The Museum is also a major attraction for tourists coming to South Florida.

The Miami Children's Museum Early Childhood Institute (ECI) is looking for an enthusiastic VPK Team Lead to help shape the educational journey of our youngest learners while supporting and mentoring an incredible team of educators.


This is more than a teaching position, it's an opportunity to lead with purpose, inspire fellow teachers, and help create a joyful, engaging learning environment where children thrive every day.


What You'll Do

  • Lead a VPK classroom by creating engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
  • Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Monitor and document children's progress using required assessment tools.
  • Mentor and support VPK teachers through coaching, collaboration, and instructional guidance.
  • Assist with curriculum planning, VPK assessments, compliance, and instructional initiatives.
  • Complete administrative responsibilities, planning, and communication following classroom instruction.
  • Support daily preschool closing procedures and overall program operations.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of early childhood teaching experience (VPK experience preferred).
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of child development, developmentally appropriate practices, and Florida VPK Standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
  • Must meet all Florida Department of Education and Department of Children and Families requirements for a VPK Instructor.
  • Current Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification.
