About the role
The Project Controls Engineer will be accountable for helping in the production and updating of project schedules, Earn Value Analysis and Reporting for various multidiscipline projects. The scope of work will include all stages from design, through procurement to installation and commissioning. The process will involve communication with all of the various design, procurement, installation and commissioning teams so as to achieve a schedule that provides for the most effective means of completing the projects on time and to budget. All projects will be resourced and various methods will be used to gauge progress, such as earned value and critical path analysis.
Flexible for this role to be based at our North Sydney or Brisbane office.
Key responsibilities
Responsible for Planning, Scheduling, Earn Value Analysis and Reporting for all assigned projects or other designated areas of responsibility within the business.
Familiarize with the project contract, scope of work and estimate files for key commodities, labour hours etc.
Discuss individual scope components of engineering, procurement and construction with relevant project team members and develop level of detail for the schedule activities, sequence of works (logic) as well as labour and non-labour resources.
Develop resource loaded baseline and/or tender schedules for assigned projects in primavera P6 system.
Discuss and validate tender or baseline critical path, labour and non-labour histograms with project manager and other project team members.
Review and ensure adequate float for non-critical activities particularly milestones.
Generate labour and non-labour histograms from the resource loaded schedule and perform levelling as required.
Generate tender or baseline progress profiles (S-Curves) using standard templates.
Set-up Earn Value Reporting tables using standard templates based on quantities, unit rates and man-hours along with applicable rules of credits.
Perform updates of project schedule, communicate changes in critical path, milestone dates and highlight delays and potential schedule slippages to the project manager.
Prepare look ahead schedules to support site construction operations.
Responsible for discipline operating plans and discipline performance within the contract.
Provides direct input to proposals, strategic plans, client presentations, and contract negotiations.
Responsible for the quality and timeliness of cost estimates, budgets, financial reports, and schedules.
Responsible for the effective implementation of department procedures used for estimating and for monitoring and controlling cost and schedule.
About You
Tertiary qualification in Engineering.
Minimum 10-year planning and project controls experience with at least a significant part of it gained on site construction, preferably in power industry (substations and/or transmission lines) related to planning, scheduling, progress measurement, earn value analyses and reporting.
Fully competent in all scheduling, planning and reporting conducted in Primavera P6
Intermediate to Advanced level experience with Excel
Managing all planning & scheduling activities including tender schedules, base line schedules, schedule/planning updates
Familiar with project control systems and practices
Experience with commercial claims, assessing delays and producing delay schedules
