The Lottery Corporation is looking for a talented Senior Legal Counsel – Employee Relations. Working as part of a high-performing and supportive legal team, you will be responsible for providing high quality employee and industrial relations legal support to the organisation.
This role will work closely with our People & Culture team and presents an exciting opportunity for an employment law specialist to manage the ER/IR legal portfolio in a large, dynamic ASX-50 company.
What you’ll do
- Provide end-to-end employee relations legal support, including with regard to employment contracts, procedures and policies, industrial instruments, wage compliance, performance management, conduct issues, investigations, disciplinary action, disputes, strategic projects and other matters.
- Partner with the People & Culture team to help manage ER/IR-related legal risks and relevant compliance obligations and monitor and advise on changes to employment law and policy.
- Build, maintain and manage relationships across the organisation (particularly P&C), gaining support for, and influencing, key internal stakeholders in their approach to legal risk management.
What you’ll bring
- Degree qualified in law and admitted as a solicitor in QLD (or relevant state or territory)
- Proven legal experience either in-house or in private practice with a focus on ER and IR law (minimum of 5 years)
- Core legal training undertaken in a law firm environment will be highly regarded
- Deep understanding of recent and emerging legislative change in the ER/IR environment and relevant case law
- Demonstrated experience partnering with P&C teams to support management of employee-related issues, risks and disputes (including litigation)
- Ability to operate autonomously – a self-starter with initiative and drive
