Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) – PRN/Weekend Coverage

Join One of Alabama's Leading Behavioral Health Teams

Ally Psychiatry is seeking a PRN Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to provide weekend, holiday, and vacation coverage across our behavioral health programs in the Birmingham, Alabama market. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced PMHNP looking for flexible supplemental income while working with an established, physician-led psychiatric practice.

Providers will have the opportunity to work in inpatient psychiatric hospitals and behavioral health crisis centers, collaborating with psychiatrists, advanced practice providers, therapists, nurses, and multidisciplinary treatment teams to deliver exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations and follow-up visits
  • Diagnose and treat patients with acute psychiatric disorders
  • Manage psychotropic medications
  • Complete timely and accurate documentation in the EMR
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, nursing staff, therapists, social workers, and case managers
  • Participate in treatment planning and discharge planning
  • Provide high-quality, patient-centered psychiatric care in fast-paced behavioral health settings

Requirements

 

Qualifications

  • Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current PMHNP certification
  • Active Alabama APRN license (or eligibility)
  • DEA registration (or ability to obtain)- not required to start
  • Experience in inpatient psychiatry, crisis services, emergency psychiatry, or acute behavioral health preferred
  • Excellent communication and clinical decision-making skills
