About the Role

Description

The Clinical Supervisor oversees daily clinical operations and provides leadership to Medical Assistants, LPNs, and RN Case Managers to ensure efficient, high-quality patient care within our Federally Qualified Health Center. This role supports chronic disease management, promotes effective patient education, strengthens self-management practices, and ensures timely, coordinated healthcare services in alignment with the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model.


The Clinical Supervisor ensures compliance with FTCA requirements, Vaccines for Children (VFC) program standards, Maryland local and state clinical regulations, HRSA/FQHC operational expectations, and all internal policies of Family Healthcare of Hagerstown. The Supervisor supports and advances the vision, mission, goals, and objectives of the organization while fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and patient-centered care.


You will directly oversee:

  • RN Case Managers – ensuring care coordination, documentation accuracy, and compliance with care plans.
  • LPNs  – providing coaching, performance oversight, and clinical guidance.
  • Medical Assistants – partnering with MA Leads to manage onboarding, privileging, competency, and workflow optimization.

Clinical Leadership & Staff Oversight

  • Provide daily supervision, coaching, and performance evaluation for MAs, LPNs, and RN Case Managers.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing, coverage, and workflow efficiency across clinical areas.
  • Maintain a respectful, professional, and supportive environment for patients, families, and staff.

Regulatory Compliance & Program Oversight

  • Ensure adherence to FTCA clinical risk management standards, including documentation accuracy, incident reporting, and compliance with approved policies.
  • Oversee compliance with VFC program requirements, including vaccine storage, handling, documentation, and reporting.
  • Maintain compliance with Maryland local laws, including scope-of-practice rules, immunization protocols, and ambulatory care regulations.
  • Ensure alignment with FQHC/HRSA expectations, including quality measures, access standards, and operational compliance.
  • Support PCMH initiatives, care coordination, and population health goals.

Clinical Operations & Patient Care

  • Ensure smooth clinic flow, timely patient care, and adherence to PCMH standards.
  • Support chronic disease management through coordinated care, education, and follow-up.
  • Promote a professional, courteous, and responsive environment for patients and families.

Quality, Safety & Infection Control

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, CLIA, infection control protocols, and emergency preparedness requirements.
  • Demonstrate a positive safety attitude and maintain an uncluttered, organized work environment.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities, chart audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Training, Competency & EHR Oversight

  • Oversee onboarding, privileging, and ongoing competency assessments for clinical staff.
  • Provide guidance on clinical processes, documentation, and EHR workflows.
  • Ensure staff maintain required certifications and competencies.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with providers, behavioral health, administrative leadership, and external partners.
  • Exhibit responsiveness to others at all levels, including timely communication and availability.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to strategic planning.

Requirements

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Licensure:

Active RN license in the State of Maryland.

CPR Certification.


EXPERIENCE:

3+ years of clinical experience in ambulatory, primary care, or community health.

Prior supervisory experience strongly preferred.

Strong understanding of regulatory compliance in FQHC or similar settings.

Excellent communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills.

Proficient typing skills to enter data into the EHR efficiently.

Proficient computer skills to include launching applications, managing ‘Windows’ and Templates in the EHR, and using a Tablet PC.

Knowledge of FTCA, VFC, HRSA/FQHC requirements, and Maryland clinical regulations (or willingness to learn) 


PHYSICAL AND MENTAL EFFORT:

Physical:

Minimum physical effort required. Intermittent sitting with freedom of movement. Occasional walking, bending and lifting.


Mental:

Frequent periods of concentration with attention to details with frequent opportunity for diversification of tasks. Must have excellent

communication skills as well as be able to speak, write, and understand the English language. Must be able to work independently.


ENVIRONMENTAL & WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work performed in modern well-equipped environment. Interfaces with fellow employees on a daily basis. Uses office equipment daily, multi-line telephone, fax machine, copier, shredder, and computer.
