Production Assembler

SUMMARY
The Production Assembler - Regular is responsible for reading assembly drawings, material lists, and work instructions to manufacture and assemble AGM products, including tie-downs, valves, desiccators, packaging products, and other assigned assemblies. This position performs assembly operations in accordance with established specifications, quality standards, and production requirements to ensure accurate and efficient product completion.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Reads materials list and assembly prints to stitch tie downs with required hardware. Trims and inspects completed tie downs, folds and packages per Company procedure.
• Proficiently operates all equipment used in the production of strap assemblies such as the automatic folder, hot knife and riveter. Is capable of quickly doing visual inspection of webbing and strap components while producing tie downs.
• Reads drawing or material list to assemble valves and install parts such as stems, springs and seals into valve housing. Aligns components and assembles valves by pressing, riveting or screwing components together and then tests movement for correct operation. Tests completed valves to insure performance within Company and customer specifications and records results per Company policy. Operates all tools and machinery used in production of valves.
• Is proficient in producing desiccators and/or other AGM products.
• Meets or exceeds par on a regular basis and cooperates with Production Supervisor and/or Production Manager on methods of increasing production efficiency.
- Assists in the training of new personnel and can quickly move from job to job with minimal set-up time.
• Must be very flexible in constantly changing from one job to another.
• Must be able to work harmoniously with fellow employees.
• Completes all paperwork accurately and keeps work area clean. Reports or corrects any unsafe conditions) or action observed to Production Supervisor. Knows correct procedures for handling and using adhesives and solvents.
- Ensures that all ISO (International Organization for Standardization) procedures are followed.
• Maintains a satisfactory attendance and punctuality record.
• Other duties may be assigned by a Manager/ Supervisor in other areas or departments as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess mechanical aptitude, be very capable of using hands to work with small parts and be able to use hand tools and measuring devices.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years experience in production assembly and/or training.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must be able to speak, read and write English in an effective manner. Must have ability to read and interpret documents such as material lists, procedure prints and safety rules. Must have ability to write routine job reports or memos and complete required paperwork. Must have ability to speak effectively in one-on-one or small group situations to other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Must have ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions or decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Must have ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or drawing form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to feel and work with small parts. The employee frequently is required to stand, sit and reach with hands and arms and talk. The employee is occasionally required to walk, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to and including 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to and including 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working around moving mechanical parts or machines. In addition, the employee is exposed to, and may come in direct contact with, potentially hazardous chemicals or materials. Therefore, the employee must follow proper safety procedures. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
