Summary of Position |
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting in all appropriate aspects of the pharmacy’s operations. The Pharmacy Technician will model behaviors consistent with the published values and the Code of Conduct of RCCHC.

Roanoke Chowan Community Health Center will provide open access, community-oriented primary care of the highest quality to all residents within our service area and surrounding counties, regardless of their ability to pay.
Minimum Qualifications |
- Must have a minimum of two years of experience working in a full-time pharmacy
- Must be void of any drug convictions or related charges
- Prefer candidates with prior 340B work experience
- Prefer Spanish speaking
- Must demonstrate commitment to working with all populations including low income individuals
Education: Must be a high school graduate or possess a high school equivalency certificate. Must be a graduate of an accredited pharmacy technicians training program and certified as a pharmacy technician
Experience: Minimum of two years of experience in a full-time pharmacy
Certification(s)/Licensure: Current certification as a pharmacy technician preferred. Immunization certification preferred.
Medication Delivery and Transportation Duties- Employees in this position may be required to deliver prescribed medications to patients, RCCHC sites, or partner facilities using an RCCHC fleet vehicle. Deliveries must be conducted in accordance with all applicable state and federal regulations, including HIPAA privacy standards and chain-of-custody requirements for medications. Employees are expected to maintain confidentiality, always ensure safe and secure handling of medications, and adhere to all RCCHC safety and driving policies. Employees assigned delivery duties must:
- Possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record as determined by RCCHC’s insurance provider.
- Comply with all fleet vehicle usage policies, including completion of mileage logs and adherence to scheduled maintenance.
- Immediately report any accidents, traffic violations, or vehicle issues to their supervisor.
- Refrain from using RCCHC vehicles for personal errands or unauthorized purposes.
RCCHC reserves the right to conduct periodic motor vehicle record checks and revoke driving privileges if necessary. Failure to comply with these standards may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge and thorough understanding of Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC’s) in regard to the Federal 330 Public Health Service Act
- Knowledge of thorough understanding of the 340B program

Essential Functions |
- Prepare prescriptions, including labeling, counting medication and packaging for pharmacist review
- Assist with administration of the 340B drug pricing program
- Assist with administration of the RCCHC indigent medication program
- Pull and fill prescriptions sent electronically in a timely manner
- Verify all patient information received from patients, faxes and e-prescribing including allergies and insurance information for accuracy
- Assist with RCCHC sample medication program
- Work with clinic staff to maintain an appropriate formulary
- Develop “par levels” of medication based on demand and availability
- Maintain/Update the pharmacy computer database
- Order replacement medications as needed
- Maintain pharmacy stock including rotation of stock to avoid out of date stock
- Orient patients to pharmacy workflows and processes
- Assist with orientation and training of personnel
- Pull, reverse claims, and restock all medications that were not picked up within days of fill date.
- Maintain reports and logs for the pharmacy
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality
- Participate in quality improvement projects
- Check out patients and obtain patient’s signature (or his/her representative per RCCHC policy) for receiving prescriptions
- Participate as an active member of the pharmacy team
- Maintain compliance with workflows, policies and procedures as well as other activities to support PCMH model of care and accreditation
