Position Summary:
The DOT Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring employee driver compliance with all federal, state, local, and company level regulations and policies. As the DOT Manager, you will prepare and complete regulatory and compliance documents. You will be responsible for driver training and skill assessment. This includes on-boarding employees, through orientation, and remedial training. Documenting compliance of DOT and FMCSA regulations and efficient use of Hours of Service are essential job duties. This position is essential to ensure the company’s reputable safety scores.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Evaluate, monitor, analyze all driver compliance while addressing non-compliance issues in a timely manner
- Manage internal and external compliance reporting by providing compliance assisting, conducting compliance investigations, and managing on-going education programs
- Ensure compliance by enforcing DOT and FMCSA regulations
- Conduct daily audits of drivers to ensure compliance and productivity through fleet management and tracking systems
- Administer random drug screens and expiration list processes for drivers’ licenses and medical card renewal
- Apply for permits and certifications:
Oversize
IFTA
Hazmat
NMFTA
- Responsible for conducting:
- Driver qualifications checks
- Driver training
- Driver records audits
- Investigate vehicle, passenger, and employee accidents/incidents to determine cause
- Determine preventability and identify trends
- Review DVIR daily and communicate with driver management to correct and validate resolutions
- Manage the Safety Management System to ensure all recorded information is accurate
- Create quality incident trackers and distribute to all invested parties
Qualifications and Requirements
- 2 years or more of transportation compliance experience
- Expertise and knowledge of DOT rules and regulations
- Previous fleet management and tracking software experience
- Advanced computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office software
- Self-starter who can use discernment to initiate tasks and problem solve
- Must work well under pressure and meet deadlines consistently
- High level of integrity with confidential material
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Must be Legally authorized to work in the United States
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Less than 50% of the time will be spent occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs., walking, standing kneeling, and bending.
- More than 50% of the time will be spent in an office sitting, standing, typing, and doing computer work
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary: $80K
Overtime: Exempt
