About the Role

Description

Schedule: Full Time, 32 Hours per Week

Position Summary

At the Women's Resource Center, assist in the kitchen with food preparation and service, ensure proper food handling practices, and maintain safe and sanitary conditions of the facility and equipment.


Essential Duties

In coordination with the Food Service Coordinator and Community Engagement Specialists:

  • Assist in serving meals and snacks based on approved menus and delivered meals.
  • Help ensure meals are served at scheduled times each day.
  • Maintain/organize kitchen, food storage, and all equipment to ensure proper working order and meet all Health Department standards.
  • Report any kitchen maintenance needs to Food Service Coordinator or Community Engagement Manager.
  • Operate and maintain dishwashers and complete washing of dishes and flatware.
  • Prepare eating areas for meal times and facilitate clean up.
  • Store food in an appropriate manner and ensure food items are properly rotated.
  • Help maintain food storage and food handling practices to maintain the kitchen and food service areas according to safe food handling regulations.
  • Assist Community Engagement Specialists to provide clear direction regarding food services to volunteers. Facilitate general overall operation of the kitchen and implement safe food handling practices with volunteers.
  • Perform other functions as necessary or assigned.
  • Attend work as scheduled and on time.


Requirements

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred. Possess or a Food Handlers permit or obtain one upon hire. Must have 1-2 years experience in food service work, or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities, including but not limited to:

  • Ability to follow food safety, safety, and sanitation procedures.
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with a diverse workforce, clients, and the public.
  • Maintain appropriate, professional boundaries with clients, volunteers, and co-workers.
  • Remain calm and respond appropriately in crises.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of private information.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks; flexibility to respond to changes.
  • If driving is required, must be at least 21 years of age, possess a current driver’s license and have a good driving record.
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and Utah Department of Health and Human Services criminal background check.


Physical Demands

  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch and twist.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods if necessary.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to operate appropriate equipment.
  • Must be able to walk up and down stairs.
