Cutter/ Clicker Press Operator

Position summary
Cut uppers, linings, quarters, vamps and counters from the hide to pattern, at rate and at yield.
Essential functions
- Operate the clicker press to cut leather and lining components to die.
- Position dies on the hide to work around defects while still holding the yield standard.
- Verify the cut part count against the ticket. Bundle by size and lot.
- Inspect your own work for grain direction, edge cleanliness and dimensional accuracy.
- Report hide defects and dull dies to the supervisor immediately.
- Keep the press bed, the dies and the cutting board clean and clear.
Requirements
Minimum qualifications
- One or more years on a clicker press, or equivalent hands-on leather cutting experience.
- Able to identify grain direction and leather defects by sight and by hand.
- Steady hands and sustained attention. This is repetitive, high-force machine work.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with multiple die sets and size runs.
- Experience tracking yield.
Physical requirements and work environment
This position works on the production floor. Standing for the full shift on a concrete floor. Occasional lifting up to 40 pounds; frequent lifting up to 20 pounds. Repetitive use of hands, wrists and arms. Exposure to leather dust, adhesive vapor and machine noise. Hearing protection, eye protection and steel-toe footwear are required. How performance is measured
Pairs cut per shift against standard. Yield percentage. Downstream rejects traced to a cut defect.
