Role Responsibilities: As the Lending Manager, you will lead the organization's direct and indirect lending operations, ensuring sound underwriting practices, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and an exceptional member experience. In partnership with leadership, you will help achieve lending objectives, support strategic growth initiatives, and drive continuous process improvement. Key responsibilities include:
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing lending team through effective hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and ongoing professional development.
- Oversee direct, indirect, and employee lending activities, ensuring sound underwriting decisions, risk management, and adherence to credit union policies.
- Monitor lending performance, analyze trends and portfolio metrics, and provide reporting and recommendations that support organizational goals and strategic decision-making.
- Ensure accurate loan documentation, underwriting records, and regulatory compliance while maintaining high standards for quality control across lending operations.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, workflows, and efficiencies through data analysis, system optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Resolve complex member concerns and escalated lending matters while delivering exceptional service and positive member experiences.
- Support the day-to-day operations of the Loan Center, including workflow management, board reporting, policy administration, audit support, and departmental projects.
- Partner with Marketing and other departments to promote lending products, strengthen member and dealer relationships, and support loan growth objectives.
- Collaborate across the organization to enhance operational effectiveness, improve service delivery, and support strategic initiatives.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on lending systems, underwriting tools, and lending-related processes while supporting reporting and project implementation efforts.
- Develop and deliver training programs, educational resources, and ongoing support to strengthen underwriting knowledge, lending consistency, and staff performance.
- Promote and support loan protection products and ancillary services through employee education, performance monitoring, and coaching.
- Build and maintain strong dealer partnerships while supporting indirect lending operations, centralized lending functions, and relationship management activities.
- Assist with audits, examinations, compliance reviews, and regulatory requests to ensure ongoing adherence to internal policies and external requirements.
- Provide operational support across all lending channels, including indirect, mortgage, participation, and centralized lending functions as business needs require.
Knowledge & Skills:
- 5-8 years of financial institution/lending experience or related work experience.
- Strong leadership skills, including experience with employee coaching, development, performance management, and team building.
- Strong knowledge of consumer, indirect, and mortgage lending principles, including credit analysis, income evaluation, risk assessment, and loan policy application.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills are required.
- Highly developed strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Strong attention to detail, including research and reporting skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
Work Environment: Monday–Friday, 8:30AM–5:00PM EST, with a hybrid work schedule that includes three days per week in the office.
