About the Role

Description

California Faucets is looking to bring on a talented 1st Shift Shipping - Receiving Clerk. This role is based on-site in our Huntington Beach, CA facility. The hours for this position will be Monday through Friday, full-time from 5:15 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.


The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for varied duties involved in the shipping of merchandise to customers, such as properly packaging, calculating shipping costs, recording shipping information, and administrative duties related to the shipment and receipt of materials, supplies, equipment, and finished products.


Duties of the position include the following:


• Receiving incoming shipments and goods.

• Ensuring that all incoming and outgoing shipments are properly labeled and that correlating documents

are available with each shipment.

• Physically unwrapping orders, visually inspecting product, and ensuring accuracy of the incoming shipments.

• Processing and packaging product and orders for shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures.

• Ensuring that materials are in proper locations.

• Assisting in loading and unloading trucks in a safe manner.

• Checking incoming goods against bills of loading, packaging slips, etc.

• Verifying nomenclature, identification, and quantity.

• Maintaining records of goods received.

• Determining storage areas for incoming shipments and allocating appropriate space within the warehouse.

• Assisting in physically moving incoming items to designated storage areas and supervising storage activities.

• Operating forklifts, hand trucks, and other equipment to move parts to proper locations and load and unload freight trucks as necessary.

Requirements


• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently.

• Must be able to read and count accurately.

• Basic mathematical skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

• Adaptability/flexibility when encountering problems. Must be able to communicate discrepancies to team leader and be able to solve problems and implement solutions.

• Ability to follow instructions and comply with all safety regulations including the use of personal protective equipment and safe operation of lift trucks and machinery.

• Attention to detail, accuracy, dependability, persistence.

• Ability to work overtime as needed.


Environmental and Safety Considerations:


• Possible exposure to heat, cold, dust, and moderate noise when working indoors.

• Must be able to follow proper lifting techniques.


Supervisory Responsibilities:


This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


People Interface:


The position requires contact with Production Department.


Decision Making:


The position involves working with order forms and PC based shipping programs. It requires judgment in proper packing of product and selection of packaging materials. It also involves the use of scanning guns and various warehouse related tools.


Supervision Received:


Under general supervision, assignments are both task-oriented and objective-oriented. Follows established procedures for routine work; receives specific instruction on non-routine problems.


Accountabilities:


After adequate training, the position requires a level of accountability to complete a predetermined amount of work or units shipped and/or put away per shift.


Education and Experience:


The minimum educational requirement to successfully perform this position is a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate. Someone entering this position should have at least six (6) months experience performing similar work in a related field.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and use hands to finger. The employee is frequently required to stand extended periods of time; reach with hands and arms below and above shoulder; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, twist or crawl. The employee may be required to lift/carry 1-50 pounds when necessary.
