Position Overview:

The Commercial Garage Door Assistant supports experienced technicians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial garage doors, dock equipment, operators, and related systems. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals who are mechanically inclined, eager to learn a skilled trade, and interested in building a long-term career in the garage door industry.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist lead technicians with the installation, service, maintenance, and repair of commercial garage doors and related equipment
  • Support repairs involving springs, cables, tracks, rollers, operators, and hardware components
  • Transport tools, materials, and equipment to and from job sites safely and efficiently
  • Load and unload materials, equipment, and supplies from company vehicles
  • Perform basic construction and installation tasks, including drilling, cutting, fastening, and assembling components under direct supervision
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all job sites
  • Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA regulations
  • Operate company vehicles and equipment safely and responsibly when authorized
  • Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and supervisors
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screening
  • Reliable transportation to report to the shop and assigned job sites
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn a skilled trade
  • Ability to work at heights, including ladders, lifts, and elevated work platforms
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, and standing
  • Repetitive use of hands, wrists, and arms while performing installation and repair tasks
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 75 lbs. and climbing ladders
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions

Schedule:

  • Standard Monday to Friday availability from 7 AM to 6 PM
  • Ability to work weekends as needed
  • Some emergency on-call after hours as needed
