POSITION TITLE: Dry Room Specialist
REPORTS TO: Harvest Assistant Manager & Manager
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt (full-time)

LOCATION: Grow West MD
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Dry Room Specialist is responsible for executing and monitoring critical harvest drying processes to ensure optimal product quality, potency, and regulatory compliance. This role manages environmental conditions within dry rooms, conducts quality inspections, maintains accurate inventory records, and supports harvest operations as needed. The Dry Room Specialist plays a key role in preserving product integrity while adhering to company SOPs and state cannabis regulations.
WORK SCHEDULE:
This is a full-time and part-time non-exempt position and may require scheduled weekend or extended hours. Overtime must be pre-approved by your manager.
- Employees are expected to report to their assigned work area and be ready to work at their designated shift start time in accordance with company attendance policies.
RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
Drying & Curing Operations
- Hang harvested plants and monitor drying processes to achieve optimal moisture content and preserve terpene and cannabinoid profiles.
- Perform curing activities, including “burping” bulk cannabis flower totes to regulate moisture and airflow, when applicable.
- Track drying timelines to ensure proper processing and prevent over-drying or mold development.
- Be present in the assigned work area and ready to work at the designated shift start time.
- Ability to meet the company production goals on a daily basis.
- Notify management at least one (1) hour prior to any scheduling changes.
- Promote a positive and respectful workplace culture by demonstrating professionalism, accountability, and effective communication with all team members, leadership, and other departments.
Environmental Control
- Monitor and adjust temperature and humidity levels within dry rooms to maintain optimal drying conditions.
- Identify and escalate environmental concerns that could compromise product quality.
- Report equipment malfunctions or deficiencies that may impact production or compliance.
- Report daily progress, environmental readings, and operational issues to management.
Harvest & Production Support
- Assist with harvesting activities and transporting harvested plants from grow rooms to drying areas.
- Meet daily production goals and workflow timelines.
- Provide leadership support to harvest and dry room teams as needed.
- Back up Harvest Supervisor positions when required.
- Perform all additional Production Technician and related production responsibilities as assigned.
Quality Control
- Conduct routine visual inspections for mold, pests, or plant diseases.
- Remove non-compliant material and ensure all products meet company quality standards.
- Maintain detailed documentation of quality findings and corrective actions.
Inventory & Compliance
- Weigh, record, and track all materials (wet weight, dry weight, waste) using the state-mandated electronic tracking system (e.g., Metrc).
- Maintain accurate records to support regulatory audits and internal compliance reviews.
- Properly document and dispose of waste in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulations.
Sanitation & Safety
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary dry room environment to prevent cross-contamination.
- Clean and sanitize tools, equipment, and work areas daily.
- Adhere to all company SOPs, OSHA standards, PPE requirements, and safety protocols.
Other Duties:
- Complete all required Zywave training courses in a timely manner.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support operational success.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Employees must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time. While performing the job employee is regularly required to stand or sit for an eight to ten-hour shift. The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; stoop; knee, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear, taste and smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, frequently lift and or move 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include both close vision and distant vision. Exposure to non-weather-related temperatures and humid conditions. Work may be performed in a closed or locked facility providing safety and security for workers and products in accordance with state laws and regulations.
As part of your work at Grow West MD, you may be exposed to environmental conditions inherent to cannabis operations, including, but not limited to, odors and volatile compounds, pollen, plant particles, and other allergens. Employees are expected to follow all safety procedures, use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and needed, report any symptoms or concerns to the manager.
