About the Role

We have two exciting opportunities for experienced, customer-focused People Services Advisors to join Downer's People Services team. One role is a max-term contract until September 2027, while the other is a max-term contract until August 2028.

As an Advisor within People Services, you will play a pivotal role in supporting employees, leaders, and stakeholders by providing timely, accurate, and practical Human Resources advice across a broad range of employment matters. You will manage a variety of Tier 2 HR enquiries, including complex Hire-to-Retire case management, interpretation of industrial instruments, troubleshooting HR systems issues, and supporting the consistent application of Downer policies and employment legislation.

Supporting the Team Leader People Services, you will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across the business to deliver responsive, solutions-focused HR support while identifying opportunities to enhance service delivery, processes, and systems.

About the Role

In this role you will:

  • Provide frontline HR guidance and support to employees and managers across a broad range of end-to-end employee lifecycle matters.
  • Manage Tier 2 HR enquiries, including complex case management requiring interpretation of industrial awards, enterprise agreements, policies, and employment legislation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve HR systems, payroll, and employee lifecycle issues through effective problem-solving and investigation.
  • Support mobilisation, demobilisation, onboarding, employment contract administration, and other Hire-to-Retire processes.
  • Interpret and advise on HR policies, procedures, legislative requirements, and The Downer Standard.
  • Facilitate workplace training and education sessions on HR initiatives, policy updates, and people processes.
  • Identify recurring issues and recommend process improvements to enhance service delivery and customer experience.
  • Contribute to People Services projects, system enhancements, testing activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure all advice and actions comply with employment legislation, organisational policies, and service level expectations.

You are a proactive and customer-focused HR professional who enjoys solving complex problems, building trusted relationships, and delivering high-quality people services.

You bring:

  • Qualifications in Human Resources or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience providing HR advice and support to employees and leaders across a broad range of people-related matters.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation, industrial awards, enterprise agreements, and HR best practices.
  • Experience managing complex enquiries, case management, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
  • Experience working with HRIS and payroll systems such as Oracle HCM, ServiceNow, ExpressHR, SAP, JDE, or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving capability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and guide stakeholders.
  • Outstanding customer service, organisational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Experience identifying and implementing process improvements and service enhancements.
  • The ability to prioritise competing demands while maintaining high levels of accuracy and responsiveness.
