Valley Natural Foods, a community-owned cooperative in Burnsville MN is looking for a dependable and upbeat Part-Time Deli Service Counter team member.

What You'll Do:

  • Greet and assist customers with friendly, attentive service at our deli counter
  • Serve hot bar, cold case, and grab-and-go items with care and attention to portioning and presentation
  • Slice meats and cheeses to order and prepare sandwiches and sides
  • Maintain cleanliness, food safety, and sanitation standards in all areas
  • Work cooperatively with other deli team members to support smooth, efficient operations

What We’re Looking For:

  • Friendly, team-oriented attitude and strong communication skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Food service or retail experience is a plus—but we’re happy to train the right person!
  • Afternoon and Evening including one weekend day availability is required
  • Must be at least 18 years old

Schedule & Hours:

  • Part-time: Approximately 16–20 hours/week
  • Includes evening and weekend shifts
  • Flexibility to pick up additional shifts is a plus!

Requirements

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Must be 18+
  • Friendly disposition, excellent service and communication skills
  • Able to be flexible to the changing needs of the business
  • Regular, predictable punctuality and  attendance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with POS (Point of Sale) systems
  • Previous customer service and/or cash handling experience
  • Familiarity with natural foods, grocery industry or cooperatives

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift/push/pull/carry up to 30 pounds frequently; 30-50+ pounds occasionally
  • Manual dexterity with ability to reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions with hands, wrists, and fingers for extended periods of time
  • Mid-to-general range visual acuity to evaluate and interact in working environment and operate deli equipment for extended periods of time
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Regular exposure to refrigerated/frozen and hot/humid environments
  • Ability to climb ladders, kneel, crouch, and bend occasionally required
  • Ability to be exposed to, work with, and directly handle dietary allergies including, but not limited to: gluten, wheat and flours; dairy and soy; meats and shellfish; peanuts and tree nuts
  • Ability to work safely with sanitation supplies
