We provide educational offerings on all matters related to death and dying throughout the area. Since the beginning of our work in Colorado we have made it our mission to preserve the dignity of our patients and provide them with a world class level of care. Joni Fair Hospice House, a 10-bed Hospice Care facility Home hospice care throughout a 20,000 square mile region in southern Colorado and with branch offices in Cañon City, La Junta, Pueblo, Trinidad and Walsenburg, Colorado.
About the Role

At Sangre de Cristo Community Care, our volunteers are an essential part of the exceptional hospice care we provide to patients and families throughout our communities. We're looking for an organized, compassionate, and enthusiastic Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, train, and support the incredible volunteers who make our mission possible 


As our Volunteer Coordinator, you'll build and lead a thriving volunteer program by:

  • Recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and placing hospice volunteers in meaningful roles 
  • Coordinating volunteer orientation, education, and ongoing training 
  • Matching volunteers with patients and families based on their interests, skills, and availability 
  • Providing ongoing coaching, support, recognition, and appreciation for volunteers 
  • Maintaining volunteer records, compliance documentation, and service hours 
  • Collaborating with clinical and administrative teams to ensure volunteer coverage and support 
  • Participating in interdisciplinary team meetings when appropriate 
  • Monitoring volunteer satisfaction and implementing strategies for engagement and retention 
  • Planning volunteer appreciation events and recognition programs that celebrate the impact of our volunteers

Requirements


  • High school diploma or equivalent required 
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in human services, healthcare, or a related field preferred 
  • Experience coordinating volunteers, working in hospice, healthcare, or human services preferred 
  • Excellent communication, organization, and relationship-building skills 
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and volunteer management systems 
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance 
  • Flexibility to occasionally work evenings or weekends for volunteer training and recognition events
