About the Role
Description
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- USPTA/USPTR certified w/5.0+ playing level.
- Assist the RSHP in duties that pertain to the Junior Tennis Program. This includes handling/setting-up all club equipment for the junior program, breaking it all down, and returning it to the storage shed.
- Provide tennis lessons to adults and juniors as required – expected weekly on court hours to be 30+ hours of teaching for full time employees.
- Assisting the RSHP/Assistant DoRS with the billing and logistics of the junior program.
- Responsible for racquet stringing/repairs while documenting specifics and services rendered for racquets, string, tension, grips etc.
- Responsible for coordinating league and/or competitive play.
- Work closely and collectively with the Briar Shop Attendants to best serve the needs of our membership. Answering phones, responding to emails, booking courts/lessons, and general service in The Briar Shop daily.
- Assist the Director of Racquet Sports with all events (when necessary) such as Pro-Am, Member-Guest, and other Club fixtures.
- Responsible for the overall cleanliness of the tennis facility and surrounds. Focus on monitoring the grounds for tennis balls, trash, towels, faults with facility (windscreens/furniture/electrical etc.). The tennis facility should be reflective of TBC’s high standards, and the Pros are expected to uphold and contribute to these standards.
- Assisting the Director of Racquet Sports/RSHP/A-DoRS and working productively with other professional staff members regularly.
- Attending staff meetings when scheduled and actively participating in team building activities.
Optimal Traits:
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Basic POS, Microsoft Office, email proficiencies.
- Comfortability with contacting members regarding racquet sports programming.
- Ability and willingness to work as a collective group for the betterment of the department and programs.
- Possess a passion for teaching/coaching racquet sports and generally helping others.
- Driven to continue education through USTA; USPTA; Higher education institutions.
Requirements
Education/Training/Experience:
- USPTA or USPTR certification (Elite preferred).
- 5+ years of coaching experience (private club-setting is preferable).
- High School Diploma; College degree preferred.
- Experienced player through junior/college/professional tennis.
- Current 5.0+ player rating or comparable skill level.
Essential Physical Requirements:
- Ability to Lift/Carry 10 lbs. or less regularly.
- Ability to Push/Pull 12 lbs. or less regularly.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, twist, turn, reach above shoulder, reach outward, handle, finger, stand, walk, talk, hear, work at or above shoulder, regularly.
- Ability to sit occasionally.
- Ability to work inside and outside, sometimes in extreme conditions.
- Ability to instruct and/or play tennis/pickle-ball at an elite level for extended amounts of time.
- Noise level is: Low to Mid
