JOB DESCRIPTION

The Photographer owns the execution, organization, and maintenance of product photography and videography digital across Day’s systems. Ensure every product is accurately and consistently represented within Shopify (E-commerce platform) Adaptive (ERP system), and Product Photo Drive, to support ecommerce performance, merchandising, inventory management, and in-store experience. The Photographer performs additional duties for the marketing department as needs arise. This may include event photography, social content, videography, and other related marketing duties. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Own the end-to-end product photography process for all merchandise.
  • Photograph and video products in accordance with Day’s Product Photography Standards.
  • Download, organize, and maintain vendor-supplied imagery when an image is available that meets company standards.
  • Upload model, lifestyle, and alternate imagery when available.
  • Audit product photography on the website for completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Ensure products, photography equipment, props, and studio materials are clean, properly maintained, and presentation-ready prior to every photography and videography session.
  • Ensure proper arrangement of product and use of props and backgrounds.
  • Maintain a digital library of images in all required formats.
  • Ensure the security of the product while in photography studio and return to Inventory Department as quickly as possible. Product must never be unattended in photography studio unless door is locked. No merchandise may remain in the studio overnight.
  • Document all process steps accurately in “Product Addition Sheet”.
  • Edit and retouch images as needed before adding them to Adaptive and the master image folder.
  • Facilitate photography of company employees for upload to the Blue Box.
  • Attend events to capture content as needed.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends, developments and new techniques with photography and videography.
  • Produce internal and external videos to support Creative Director as needed.
  • Create content for social media to support Creative Director as needed.
  • Ensure that the photography studio is clean and well organized.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Proficiency with digital photography equipment, including cameras, lenses, lighting, backdrops, and related studio equipment. 
  • Working knowledge of photography principles, including composition, perspective, color, lighting, and image quality. 
  • Proficiency with photo editing and digital asset management software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite and related applications). 
  • Experience managing digital files, image organization, and asset libraries. 
  • Familiarity with ecommerce platforms, ERP systems, and product information management (Shopify, Adaptive, or similar systems preferred). 
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and web-based applications. 
  • Ability to maintain consistent product photography standards across large product assortments. 
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining accuracy.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates primarily in an office environment. Frequent camera, lenses, lighting, computer, telephone, fax machine, printer and photo copier use is required. Occasional work off-site for events and style shots is also required; these work environments will vary depending on the location. Occasional travel across Maine and New Hampshire to our 9 store locations. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

This position requires frequent sitting at a personal computer and occasional standing, walking, crouching, and bending. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds. Frequent grasping, reaching, and fine finger dexterity and motor skills are required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. 

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

Part-Time (10–15 hours per week). Hours may increase during peak seasons and periods of increased product intake, including holiday merchandising and collection launches.

TRAVEL

This position requires up to 10 – 15% travel primarily between Day’s nine store locations in Maine and New Hampshire. 

REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required: High School Diploma or GED 

Experience producing video content for the web, eye for trends, design, and consumer habits. Proven skills in photography: extensive range of knowledge with technical equipment, including cameras, lenses, lighting, and specialist software. Skilled in composition, perspective, value, color, and lighting.

Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Photography
