Cargo Trucking Operations Specialist

About the role:
Qatar Airways (QR) are now recruiting for the role of Cargo Trucking Operations Specialist based in Wroclaw, Poland.  
You will be responsible for planning, executing and monitoring trucking operations, maintaining daily communication with trucking operators providing Road Feeder Services (RFS) to QR Cargo worldwide. You will ensure smooth daily road transport operations by coordinating with various stakeholders within QR and its commercial partners. In addition to this, the selected candidate will anticipate and react on disruptions and repairs road connections, monitor daily performance for trucking providers, report and escalate service quality issues, conduct root-cause analysis for disrupted movements, and monitor critical status updates for entire RFS network.
Some of the tasks include:

•    Develop loading plans for trucks based on incoming cargo analysis, using various computer applications, to optimize truck loading space utilization and reduce number of required vehicles.
•    Utilize various operational concepts like full truckload (FTL), Less than truckload (LTL), multiple collections and deliveries based on analysis of geographical location of QR gateways, to plan best possible route for underutilized trucks, avoid minimum rates and optimize cost.
•    Manage capacity shortages on a shift basis through ad hoc service purchases to prevent cargo backlogs and minimize delays.
•    Arrange ad-hoc trucking operations in close cooperation with Integrated Operations Centre to mitigate negative impact of diverted flights.
•    Decide on the relevant vehicle type, for identified dangerous, perishable, valuable or special loads, from contracted or ad hoc trucking providers, to ensure compliance with road transport regulations applicable in country of operations, and safe transport to destination.
•    Monitor emails, transport management system, answer calls in a timely manner and effectively investigate issues, analyzing, authorizing or providing solution to RFS operations on a 24/7 basis.
•    Assist in the response to any emergency or a major operational disruption affecting Qatar Airways or its subsidiaries, including support of the Qatar Airways Special Assistance Program.
•    Ensure that in performance of the role, all uses, disclosures and requests of any information (in any form) are done in accordance with data protection principles adopted by the QR Group and are limited to what is reasonably required to accomplish the intended business purposes of the use, disclosure or request.
•    Ensure full awareness of work health and safety requirements and expectations in order to minimise health and safety risks for self and colleagues.
•    Ensure compliance to all relevant safety, security, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the operation to guarantee employee safety, security, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality service with a responsible environmental attitude.
 

About you

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:
•    Relevant College or University qualifications with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience in the airline or the road freight industry.
•    Good understanding and experience of various road transport operation concepts used in European trucking
•    Good understanding and experience of legal framework regulating European road transport operations
•    Knowledge and experience of European road system structure, standards and regulations
•    Experience in planning/monitoring transportation of temperature-controlled cargo is an advantage
•    Experience in planning/monitoring transportation of oversized/abnormal cargo is an advantage
•    Proficient in road feeder services is an advantage
•    Understanding of special loads handling is an advantage
•    Fluency in spoken and written English
