About the Role
 
 
 
NOTE: This application is for a non-residential, seasonal staff position from May through October 2025. 
This position is only available to folks local to the Mid-Hudson Valley area.

Summary

The Omega Dining Hall is a large, full-scale, food-production facility. We produce and serve up to 2,500 mostly plant-based meals per day as well as breads and desserts for both the Dining Hall and the Omega Café. 

Greeters report directly to the Shift-Co on duty. They are responsible for welcoming participants staff and guests, and keeping count, as they enter the Dining Hall.

This is a non-residential, volunteer position.  

Job Description/ Daily Tasks

  • Welcome and count participants, staff and guests as they enter the Dining Hall through the front doors
  • Direct Traffic as needed
  • Report numbers throughout the shift
  • Maintain cleanliness of stairs and entrance way to the Dining Hall
  • Along with the Dining Hall Shift Coordinator, manage door signage as necessary
  • Along with the Dining Hall Shift Coordinator, manage the transition between Family Meal and participant meal times, as it pertains to porch seating and crowds of early participants
  • Check in with Dining Hall Shift Coordinator before and after shift

Physical Requirements

  • Constantly works in outdoor weather conditions
  • Frequently move items that weigh 30-50 pounds for various needs
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Must be able to traverse a hilly campus in diverse weather conditions
  • Must be able to position self to perform diverse job tasks as necessary
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.  Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • The ability to observe details at close range

Position & Benefits

Dining Hall Greeters welcome guests into the Omega Dining Hall, keep a count of guests, and answer general questions. These positions are available while the campus is open, from May through October.
