JOB OVERVIEW
• Job Title: Neonatologist
• Job Type: Locum Tenens
• Location: Camp Lejeune, NC
• Service Setting: Inpatient and Outpatient
• Facility Type: Military Treatment Facility / Medical Center
• Coverage Type: Clinical and Call
• Coverage Period: Long-Term Contract Opportunity
• Clinical Shift Schedule: Approximately 182 scheduled 24-hour shifts annually, alternating with facility Neonatologists, with up to 28 additional 24-hour shifts per year as needed. Each shift includes in-house coverage from 7:00 AM–3:30 PM followed by on-call coverage from 3:30 PM–7:00 AM. Weekend and holiday coverage required.
• Call Schedule: 3:30 PM–7:00 AM during each assigned 24-hour shift

• Call Response Time: Telephone response within 15 minutes and on-site response within 30 minutes if called back
PATIENT INFORMATION
• Patient Demographics: Neonates and newborns who are eligible military and Department of Defense beneficiaries
• Patient Volume: Approximately 120 deliveries per month
• Patient Census: Level II NICU averages 4–6 patients daily
• Admissions: Yes
• Rounding: Included
• Phone Consults: Yes, provide consultation to the on-duty Neonatal Nurse Practitioner during on-call coverage
• Case Mix: Infants generally at or above 32 weeks' gestational age and 1,500 grams, including late-preterm infants, term infants with respiratory distress, and other Level II NICU cases

• Office Equipment Available: Government-provided clinical facilities, equipment, laptop for documentation, pager, and/or cellular phone for on-call coverage
• Specialty Backup Available: OB/GYN Team, Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, and Hospital Corpsmen
• Support Staff Available: One Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, three Registered Nurses, one Hospital Corpsman, with additional staff based on patient census
• Physician Coverage: One Neonatologist on-site at a time with Neonatology Medical Director support as needed

REQUIRED PROCEDURES

JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Degree: MD or DO
• Board Certification: Board Certified in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine through the American Board of Pediatrics
• Licenses: Current, unrestricted North Carolina Medical License
• DEA: Active DEA Registration
• Certifications: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), BLS (AHA or ARC), and PALS
• NPI: Required
• Experience: Minimum of one year of clinical experience as a Neonatologist within the past two years
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide comprehensive neonatal care within a Level II NICU and newborn nursery
• Evaluate, admit, and manage neonatal patients requiring specialized care
• Perform daily inpatient rounding and outpatient neonatal evaluations as needed
• Provide on-call consultation and respond to emergent neonatal cases within required response times
• Collaborate with Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, OB/GYN physicians, nursing staff, and other multidisciplinary team members
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with military facility standards
