Position Overview

 We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our Engineering team at our Coldwater, Michigan facility.

This role is responsible for leading engineering projects from concept through implementation, including capital equipment installations, manufacturing process improvements, facility upgrades, and new product introductions. The Project Engineer will collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, and Engineering to deliver projects that improve safety, productivity, quality, and manufacturing performance.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering projects from concept through commissioning, including planning, design, procurement, installation, startup, and validation
  • Develop project scopes, engineering packages, equipment specifications, layouts, budgets, and schedules
  • Manage contractors, vendors, equipment procurement, and project timelines to ensure successful execution
  • Support the installation, modification, and commissioning of manufacturing equipment, facility systems, and production processes
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams to improve manufacturing performance and equipment reliability
  • Lead new equipment qualifications and support APQP activities for new product and process launches
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, throughput, quality, and operational efficiency through Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain project documentation while ensuring compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and company procedures

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Chemical, or a related Engineering discipline required
  • 3–7 years of engineering or project management experience within an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Experience leading capital equipment, facility, manufacturing, or process improvement projects preferred
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, metallurgy, heat transfer, or advanced materials is highly desirable
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Microsoft Project, and PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment preferred
  • Understanding of OSHA regulations, electrical codes, engineering drawings, P&IDs, and instrumentation diagrams
  • Strong project management, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
