Quilt Machine Operator 



REPORTS TO:           Machine Quilting Manager

CLASSIFICATION:    Non-Exempt, Full-Time

SCHEDULE:              Weekend Shift: Fri/Sat/Sun: 5:00am to 5:30pm


JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for completing customer quilts according to the details of the order and with MSQC quality standards, while working with all types of fabrics and sizes.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Set/stage quilts on the long-arm sewing machines and monitor the quilting machine to ensure no issues happen during the quilting process; i.e., loading the backing, batting and quilt tops onto the long-arm.

  • Trim completed quilts as needed.

  • Interact with any guests/visitors to the warehouse by explaining, demonstrating, and answering any questions guests may have.

  • Understand authorized machine maintenance, upkeep, and quilting requirements. 

  • Maintains expected quality and production goals. 

  • Observes all department and company safety rules. 

  • Assist with any other duties; i.e., check-in, quality, shipping as determined by the quilting leads or managers to help with any/all duties of the Quilting department.

  • On an as-needed basis, assist throughout the warehouse with any duties such as cutting, picking, or shipping with peak business demands.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:    

  • High School diploma required.

  • Knowledge of sewing/quilting desired

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Takes direction. 

  • Listens and responds constructively.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Takes initiative to be a self-starter.

  • Shares his/her expertise with others.

  • Basic math skills - must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions and conduct basic mathematics involving measurements.


Physical requirements

  • This position is primarily standing and walking.

  • Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.

  • Repetitive motion of wrists, hands/fingers, arm, and trimming associated with pinning/running the quilting machine and trimming tasks.

  • Overtime required periodically.
