Job Title: Director of Human Resources & People Operations

Department: Human Resources                                                       Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Job Type: Regular Full-Time                                                                 Work Hours: Monday - Friday 

Effective Date: July 2026                                                                     Exemption Status: Exempt 

Salary Range: $135,000 - $155,000/year 

Profit Sharing: Company Profit Sharing is available and varies based on business results

Role Summary: The Director of Human Resources & People Operations provides strategic leadership for all HR functions, fostering a high-performing, employee-focused culture that supports organizational growth. This role partners with executive leadership to develop people strategies, ensure compliance, and oversee HR operations, including payroll, benefits, talent acquisition, employee relations, learning and development, and performance management.


Supervisory Responsibilities: HR Benefits Manager, Payroll & HRIS Specialist (additional roles in future regrowth)


Essential Functions/ Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all HR operations, including payroll, benefits, employee relations, performance management, recruiting, and training.
  • Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and strategic initiatives aligned with business goals.
  • Partner with executive and business leaders on workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development.
  • Design and improve recruitment, onboarding, and employee training and development programs.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and engaged workplace culture.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Oversee compensation and benefits programs to remain competitive and support employee retention.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to the HR team and organizational leaders.
  • Maintain accurate HR records, employee data, and reporting.
  • Drive continuous improvement across HR processes and systems.
  • Job duties may evolve based on business needs.

Payroll & Benefits Oversight:

  • Direct payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing.
  • Oversee benefits administration, including enrollments, vendor relationships and performance, open enrollment, COBRA, disability, HIPAA compliance, and 401(k) administration.
  • Audit payroll and benefits processes to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.

Minimum Required Education/Credentials/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience.
  • Experience managing payroll and benefits administration.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, and payroll practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR/payroll systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality.

Preferred Education/Credentials/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience leading HR teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, project management, and customer service skills.
  • Experience with organizational development, employee engagement, and change management.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements: 

Work Environment: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
