About the Role

About the role:

Qatar Airways are pleased to announce an incredibly exciting opportunity to join our Flight Operations -Operational Strategy & Innovation team as Operations Systems Specialist to be based in Doha, Qatar.

As an Operations Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for direct management and support of specialized operations systems within the Operational Control Centre and Flight Operations. In this role, you will also be responsible for the maintenance of rules, configuration settings and reference data held within these systems.

Specific responsibilities for the role include:

  • Maintain required reference data within the operational systems such that users can select, use and undertake tasks linked to such reference data without delay and without issue. For example, ensuring aircraft tails, airports, scheduling codes, crew expiries etc. are set up in the system.

  • Manage user administration and security ensuring user accounts are created and modified in accordance with business permissions. Carry out regular maintenance to ensure accounts are deactivated and security of Qatar Airways data is maintained at all times.

  • Prompt configuration, creation and maintenance of the primary alerts, FTL rules, expiries system and scheduling restrictions within TOPS so that the Crew Resources and IOC teams can adequately identify and correct possible regulatory or company requirement breaches before they occur.

  • Work with end-users to identify ineffective or inefficient use of supported systems, suggesting improvements, workarounds and possible software enhancements.

  • Work with end-users to identify system / software limitations for customisation and improvement so has to improve the effectiveness of the job the end-user is undertaking.

  • Properly scope and clarify any software customisation / change and provide necessary and concise change documentation to the software vendors in order to ensure such developments carried out meet the business requirements and objectives of the user community.

  • Investigate all reported system support issues. Liaise with end-users to understand the problem they are facing, troubleshoot by exploring the cause of the system behaviour and correct if able i.e. settings, configuration changes, correction of user workflow or actions etc.

  • Verify fixes and/or solutions provided by the vendor are ‘fit for purpose’ and meet expected behaviour or results before passing on to end-users for verification, therefore avoiding unnecessary disruption to business activities until confidant that a suggested solution/fix will work correctly.

About you

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Relevant College or University qualifications with minimum of 5 years job-related experience.

  • Experience in the system administration of similar operational systems.

  • Working experience in system user support related role is highly desirable.

  • Good knowledge of all technical teams within airline operational systems.

  • Knowledge of specialist user roles such as crew control, rostering, ops control, training planning.

  • Knowledge of specialist airline operations and crew management (including optimization) systems.

  • Proven ability to maintain relationships with range stakeholders.

  • Highly developed analytical, report writing and presentation skills.

  • Excellent command of spoken and written English.
