Job Description

We’re looking for a Senior Civil Engineer – Water to join our team in Christchurch! In this opportunity, you’ll lead the design and delivery of 3-waters projects – from master planning through to detailed design and construction – with a focus on pipelines, pump stations and stormwater networks.

This role offers the opportunity to combine technical leadership, project delivery and client engagement while growing your career in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Your day-to-day will see you:

  • Leading detailed design for hydraulics, stormwater runoff, pipeline and pump station to help solve complex challenges across land development, transport and flood management projects/
  • Managing project budget, timelines and resources to deliver quality outcomes for clients.
  • Acting as the key client contact, building strong relationships and proactively seeking business development opportunities with new and existing clients. 
  • Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to team development.
  • Championing technical excellence in software such as Civil 3D, 12D, HEC-RAS, TUFLOW, SWMM and GIS tools (QGIS/ArcGIS) to deliver practical, high-quality outcomes.
  • Collaborating across disciplines to align with client goals, regulations and best practice.
  • Staying up to date with industry trends, embracing digital tools to drive efficiency and uncovering new opportunities through your network.

Qualifications

This role is ideal for an engineer with 8+ years’ experience who is passionate about water infrastructure and has achieved (or is working towards) Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil, Water, Environmental or Natural Resources Engineering
  • CPEng Status (or working toward)
  • Strong experience in hydraulics, stormwater networks, and pump station/pipeline design.
  • Demonstrated experience in 3 waters projects with a focus on detailed design.
  • Demonstrated project management and delivery capability across all lifecycles, managing budgets, timelines and resource management.
  • Experience with modelling highly desired. 
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D, 12D, InfoWorks, HEC-HMS and GIS tools (QGIS/ArcGIS preferred).
  • A good attitude toward developing junior engineers and designers through active mentorship and participating in team development.
  • A collaborative, hands-on approach with strong communication and client engagement skills.
