Senior Project Manager - Cyber

About the Role

The Senior Project Manager – Cyber Security Program plays a critical role in delivering UOW’s Cyber Security Uplift Program. Reporting to the Program Director – Cyber Security Portfolio, you will lead the delivery of projects that identify, manage and remediate cyber security risks across the University’s critical assets. Working closely with technical specialists, business stakeholders and project teams, you will help strengthen UOW’s cyber resilience, implement security controls, and ensure successful delivery of strategic initiatives that protect the University’s people, systems and information.

Key responsibilities: 

· Lead the delivery of cyber security projects and risk remediation initiatives that reduce organisational risk and strengthen cyber resilience.
· Manage project scope, schedule, budget, risks, dependencies and reporting to ensure successful delivery outcomes.
· Coordinate the implementation of security controls and uplift activities aligned to recognised cyber security frameworks and best practice.
· Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the University, vendors and external partners to support successful project outcomes.
· Provide clear governance, reporting and assurance to senior leaders, ensuring transparency, accountability and informed decision-making.

About the Team

This position sits within Information Management & Technology Services (IMTS), the University’s central provider of information management and technology services. The role forms part of the Cyber Security Portfolio and works closely with the Program Director, cyber security specialists, solution architects, business analysts, change managers and business stakeholders across Australia and UOW’s global operations. Together, the team delivers strategic initiatives that enhance the University’s digital security and resilience.

What You’ll Bring

We are seeking an experienced project management professional who can successfully deliver complex cyber security or ICT initiatives while engaging and influencing a broad range of stakeholders.

· Demonstrated experience delivering projects within complex ICT and/or cyber security environments.
· Proven ability to manage project risks, dependencies and competing priorities while achieving delivery outcomes.
· Strong understanding of cyber security risks, vulnerabilities and security controls.
· Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and negotiation skills.
· Relevant project management certification (such as PRINCE2, PMP or Agile) and/or cyber security experience will be highly regarded.

Role Details

Employment type: Fixed-term, Full-time appointment (end December 2027)
Level 8/9: $123,283 - $152,959 plus 17% superannuation.
Location: Wollongong Campus / Hybrid working arrangements available.
Valid Australian work rights required. Visa sponsorship is not available.
