Retail Systems Field Specialist

Description
The Retail Systems Field Specialist provides hands-on technology support to independent grocery stores across PWADC’s multi-state service area. This highly mobile role travels 60–80% of the time to install and configure store technology, troubleshoot hardware, software, printing, and network issues, and support new store openings and system rollouts. The specialist also trains retail employees on PWADC’s web and mobile applications, provides remote and on-call support, and serves as a key liaison between store teams and PWADC’s IT and operations departments. Success in this role requires strong technical skills, clear communication, adaptability, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
Field Support & Deployment
- Travel 60–80% (3–5 days per week) to support independent grocery store locations across a multi-state territory
- Install, configure, and deploy store technology including PCs, printers, and Android handheld devices
- Support store openings, resets, and system rollouts, including price verification and system validation
- Maintain and update asset tracking records for deployed equipment
Technical Support
- Deliver on-site end-user support for hardware, software, and network-related issues
- Troubleshot printing from Microsoft Office and other applications
- Provide remote support via phone and screen-sharing tools
- Participate in an on-call rotation, including staffing a support hotline approximately one weekend per month
Training & Enablement
- Conduct in-person and remote training on proprietary web and mobile applications (pricing, ordering, claims)
- Adapt training and communication style to a wide range of technical skill levels
- Develop user confidence and promote adoption of new and existing software
Stakeholder Collaboration & Feedback
- Act as a liaison between retail locations and the distribution center’s IT and operations teams
- Gather, document, and communicate user feedback on custom applications
- Assist in user acceptance testing (UAT) for mobile and web applications
Collaborate to resolve issues and improve system performance and usability

Qualifications
Required
- Experience in grocery retail or a related environment
- Basic proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to support non-technical users
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively in a field-based role
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively (3–5 days per week)
Preferred
- Prior experience in technical support, help desk, or field service roles
- Hands-on troubleshooting experience with hardware or software systems
- Familiarity with mobile device deployment (especially Android)
