Onto Health

Physician Liaison Intern — Chicago

Part-time · 10-15 hours a week · Chicago north, northwest and west suburbs · Paid · Start date: ASAP

Fertility is one of the most exciting corners of medicine right now, and Onto Health is right in the middle of it. We are hiring our first physician liaison in Chicago - a great first job in healthcare, in sales, or in both.

Your mission: make sure every OBGYN across the Chicagoland area knows exactly who we are and when to send a patient our way. You would own a territory of about sixty practices, build real relationships with the front desks and the physicians behind them, and turn those into people walking through our door.

ABOUT ONTO HEALTH

Onto Health is a fertility practice built on a simple idea: this experience should be far better than it usually is. We do IVF, IUI and fertility preservation, and we are small on purpose - a reproductive endocrinologist, a team of advanced practice providers, and the nurses and care coordinators who know every patient's name and most of their story. People come to us on the strength of that, and they tell their friends.

Women's health has been under-built for a long time, and fertility especially. Working here means you are on the building side of that rather than the complaining side.

WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO

This is a field role. Most of your working hours are on the go and in the front offices of OBGYN practices across Chicago and surrounding suburbs, not at a desk.

Run the drop-off routes. Routes across Barrington, Hoffman Estates, Park Ridge, Arlington Heights, the North Shore, the city, Naperville and Tinley Park. You work them on a set rotation.
Deliver the materials. Referral criteria postcards, insurance and financing sheets, referral pads, and small gifts for the clinical staff. You keep the car stocked and the card holders full.
Build the new territory lists. Aurora and parts of the south suburbs are wide open and we have no target list for either. Part of your first month is building one - finding the practices, confirming addresses, and mapping a sensible route.
Get names and cards. The most important outcome of a first visit is walking out with the practice manager's name and card. An office we cannot name a person at is a building, not a relationship.
Log every visit. Who you saw, what you left, what they said, what happens next - written the same day. It is the record the whole program is built on.
Set up the lunches and dinners. When an office is ready, you coordinate the date, order the food, get it there early, and set the room up before our provider arrives.
Represent us at events. Community family-building nights, health fairs and the occasional conference. You staff the table, talk to people, and bring back what you heard.
Help with our social channels. Photos from the field, event coverage, and short posts about what you are seeing. You are not running the account - you are feeding it, and drafting posts we edit together.
Run the email outreach. You send our intro emails from Dr. Roohi's account, one office at a time, personalising each one from what we know about that practice. Then you work the replies - who wants a call, who is ready for a visit, who needs a nudge. Several of our target offices are best reached this way before anyone drives out.

HOW A VISIT WORKS

Every office runs the same four-step sequence, and you own the first and last of them.

1. Drop and name. Food in hand. Leave the materials, hand over your business card and ask for one back, and get six specific answers - who handles referrals, how they want to receive them, what day they take lunch meetings, and so on. If the office feels warm, offer the lunch and learn before you leave.
2. Lunch and learn. One of our providers presents for twenty minutes. You book it, order the food, and set the room up before she arrives.
3. Thank-you. A handwritten note goes out within five business days, and you confirm the referral pad is actually being used.
4. Report back. A standing monthly visit where you bring the office their own numbers - how many of their patients we've seen, how many are in treatment.

A TYPICAL WEEK

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday — field days. Two routes a day, usually 10:00-11:30am and 1:30-3:30pm, which are the windows a front desk can actually talk.
Monday or Friday — a few hours of admin. Logging, restocking the car, confirming next week, and a short check-in with the team.
Roughly monthly — you staff a lunch and learn. One of our providers presents; you handle the food, the materials and the room.
Events - Some events help if necessary

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

You are comfortable walking into a room where nobody is expecting you, and being useful within ninety seconds.
You are interested in sales, or curious enough to find out. This role teaches the fundamentals properly.
You are reliable about small things. Showing up the day you said, restocking the card holder, writing the visit down before you drive away - the whole program is made of those.
You write clearly enough that someone reading your visit log three months from now knows exactly what happened.
Valid driver's license, a reliable car
You can be told no at a front desk, in front of people, without it ruining your afternoon.
You understand that patient information is confidential and act like it. We will train you on the specifics.
