Set-Up & Punch Press Operator

Description

Set up and operate single hit punch presses to produce parts according to customer specifications. Will perform other duties as required, including press operation.

· Assemble nests and dies to perform various single hit operations including float pierce, cushion pierce, semi blank, temp blank and various compounds using hand tools

· Set and adjust clamps and stops

· Position workpiece against backstop or manually align layout marks

· Measure workpiece dimensions throughout to ensure quality and repeatability

· Observe tool and machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction

· Visual inspection of first piece

· Issue job and safely check in Press Operator once set up is complete

· Collaborate quality control personnel and other team members to meet production targets and address any issues or concerns.

· Follow all company safety and operations policies

Requirements

· Proven experience at setting up single hit punch presses

· Proficiency with measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers

· Experience working with ¼” thickness and thinner sheet metal

· Ability to read blueprints and part routers

· Identify metal material types and gauge thickness

· Knowledge of how to select position and align dies in machine and confirm that they are properly secured.
