About the Role

Description

The Academic Coach in the Center for Lifelong Learning leads one-on-one lessons that cater to the academic needs and goals of the student.  This is a part-time position. Hours are not guaranteed, vary from day to day, and are dependent upon student enrollment.  


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Works with students to help them understand key high school math and / or science concepts, including advanced / AP level math and science.
  • Assists students with homework, projects, test preparation, and other academic tasks.
  • Provide students with positive and constructive feedback in a Christ-like manner.
  • Serves as a Christian role model for students.
  • Adapts instruction to different learning styles and preferences.
  • Builds meaningful connections with students.
  • Offers feedback to teachers and parents when appropriate.
  • Contacts teachers for guidance if necessary.
  • Keeps scheduling calendar up to date and monitors notifications for newly scheduled sessions.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of any concerns.
  • Attends all scheduled tutoring sessions, arriving on time.
  • Tracks sessions worked in timekeeping app.

The ideal candidate will have an associate’s degree or equivalent from an accredited, four-year college. The individual should be a self-starter with a strong work ethic and enjoy a challenge. Working with a minimal amount of supervision, within general guidelines, is typical of the individual’s work. The ability to proactively solve programs, work effectively with variety of students, and handle confidential information appropriately are pre-requisites.
