The Role

As a SMP Engineer on this project, you’ll play a pivotal role in managing scope, liaising with clients, and driving execution across construction, quality, and commercial functions.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and coordinating SMP construction activities in line with project schedules and specifications
  • Liaising with client representatives, subcontractors, and internal teams to resolve technical queries and ensure alignment
  • Monitoring progress and preparing detailed weekly and monthly reports for internal and client stakeholders
  • Reviewing and approving technical deviation requests and maintaining the technical query register
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards across all works
  • Supporting the development of work packs, ITPs, and construction methodologies
  • Conducting inspections and walkdowns to verify installation quality and readiness for testing or commissioning
  • Identifying and mitigating risks and non-conformances through proactive problem-solving
  • Assisting with material take-offs, procurement tracking, and delivery coordination
  • Participating in pre-starts, toolbox talks, and safety reviews to promote a strong safety culture
  • Collaborating with planning and commercial teams to support forecasting, cost control, and change management

About You

To thrive in this role, you’ll ideally bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Proven experience delivering SMP (Structural, Mechanical, and Piping) scopes on major construction projects
  • Strong technical knowledge of steel structures, mechanical equipment installation, piping systems, and associated construction methodologies
  • Proficiency in MS Office and relevant engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Navisworks, or similar)
