About the Role

Description

Position Summary


As a Speech Therapist, you will play a vital role in our interdisciplinary team, helping patients recover from a variety of medical conditions that impact communication, swallowing, and cognitive function. You will conduct comprehensive evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide therapy sessions to improve patients' abilities. You will also educate patients and their families on self-management techniques to ensure continued progress after discharge.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Conduct comprehensive speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing evaluations to identify patients' needs and develop functional treatment goals.
  • Design and implement individualized therapy programs utilizing evidence-based practices.
  • Provide direct patient care in individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Document progress in patient medical records and collaborate with the rehabilitation team to ensure a cohesive treatment approach.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on communication and swallowing strategies.
  • Participate in discharge planning to facilitate a smooth transition back to the community.
  • Stay up-to-date on current research and best practices in speech-language pathology. 



Requirements

Minimum Qualifications 

(Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)


Licenses or Certifications

  • Current, unencumbered license to practice professional Speech Therapy in the state where currently practicing.
  • Current BLS required via the American Heart Association or American Red Cross (required).


Education, Training, and Experience

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university program (required). 
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). 
  • 2 years of Inpatient Rehabilitation experience (preferred).
  • Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
  • Proficient in documentation and medical record keeping. 
  • Strong understanding of current trends and best practices in rehabilitation medicine.
