Rocky’s Ace Hardware is a family-owned business that has been supporting local communities for over 95 years. Rocky’s was founded in 1926 by Rocco (Rocky) J. Falcone. Back then, Rocky’s was a mom-and-pop business and had just one location — in downtown Springfield, Massachusetts, on the corner of Main and Union streets. In 1966, Rocco’s son James began to run the business. During the 1970s and 1980s, James developed the single store operation into a successful seven-store chain. It was then that Rocky’s started its national affiliation with the Ace Hardware Co-op. The relationship with Ace offered Rocky’s Hardware the buying power of a national chain, national advertising, and the computerization of accounting and inventory procedures, all while still maintaining local, independent ownership and Rocky’s longtime identity as a neighborhood hardware store. Today, Rocco J. Falcone II, James’ son, is the third generation of his family to serve as president. Under the Falcone family's leadership, Rocky’s Ace Hardware has continued to evolve, responding to customer demand by expanding its hardware product lines, increasing stock selection and adding a variety of new services. From one modest store to now 50 convenient locations throughout Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Maine, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio and Florida, Rocky′s has become one of the country’s largest Ace dealers, noted for its focus on customer service and quality product selection. About the Role

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for overall customer satisfaction, driving sales, building sales skills and product knowledge and maintaining safety, security and integrity of the paint department.

 

Essential Duties:

· Provide amazing, fast sales service by actively seeking out customers to assess their needs and provide assistance.

· Provide information on product features/benefits, and know related items to sell an entire project.

· Greet, qualify, recommend and close sales for customers in the paint department.

· Troubleshoot customer issues/problems that may arise

· Possess basic knowledge of adjacent departments.

· Department and product knowledge that includes, but is not limited to the following areas:

o ability to identify and explain different types of paint (i.e. premium vs. economy)

o identify and explain different paint finishes (i.e. flat, satin, eggshell, and semi-gloss)

o explain and demonstrate faux and decorative finishes

o identify and explain various painters’ tools including paint sprayers, power washers, edgers, rollers, brushes

o ability to explain the different uses of adhesives, solvents, caulk.

· Maintain the in-stock position of assigned area, and ensure that it is clean, shop able, and safe.

· Work in cooperation with Store Management, other sales departments, and the front-end associates to ensure customers’ needs are met.

· Use various equipment and machinery to match and mix paint; must be able to visually distinguish slight differences in a vast array of colors.

· Responsible for Paint training, coaching and developing store associates in the Paint department.

· Drive the Business To Business “B2B” paint business

· Attend mandatory monthly store meetings

Other responsibilities as assigned by store management.
