Join our Gisborne team as a Mechanical & Maintenance Fitter and keep our projects moving - Fixed Term Role

We’re looking for a skilled Mechanical and Maintenance Fitter to join our team where you’ll be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing a range of mechanical equipment and machinery including GDC plant, pumps and gearboxes.

With work spanning across diverse sites such as quarries, asphalt plants, and civil projects, you’ll enjoy a mix of both outdoor and industrial environments. Your expertise will help keep our operations running smoothly and safely, as you tackle new challenges every day.

In addition to the above you will:

  • Fit, assemble, and install new or upgraded mechanical equipment and components—including pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, valve refurbing and GDC plant machinery.

  • Conduct regular servicing and inspections of machinery to prevent breakdowns and optimise asset lifespan.

  • Respond to equipment failures, diagnose faults, and carry out effective repairs or replacements to minimise operational downtime.

  • Undertake basic welding, fabrication, and modifications as needed.

  • Work alongside electricians, welders, engineers, and other trades to resolve issues and improve plant performance.

  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.

  • Follow our strict safety protocols, risk assessments, and PPE requirements in all aspects of the job.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Full Class 2 licence preferred however, Full Class 1 considered and for the right candidate, training and licencing will be provided

  • Hold a recognised trade qualification (e.g. Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering Trade or equivalent).

  • Experienced with mechanical fitting and maintenance in industrial or civil environments.

  • Confident in interpreting technical plans and manuals.

  • Problem-solver with solid mechanical aptitude.

  • Excellent communicator and team player.

  • Up-to-date with workplace safety standards and practices.

  • Flexibility to work across various sites and adapt to changing priorities.
