Position Summary:

ACE Wellness Center is seeking a skilled and reliable Part-Time Passenger Van Mechanic to provide routine maintenance and repairs for our fleet of approximately 15 passenger vans. The mechanic will ensure that all vehicles remain in safe, operational condition and comply with state and federal transportation regulations. This role is essential to supporting the reliable and timely transportation of clients and staff between sites and community-based services.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance & Repairs

- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and necessary repairs on passenger vans (e.g., oil changes, brake servicing, fluid checks, tire rotations, battery testing). - Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and perform repairs in-house when appropriate. - Coordinate and oversee complex repairs with external service providers when necessary.

Documentation & Compliance

- Maintain detailed service records for each vehicle, including maintenance logs, inspection reports, and repair documentation. - Ensure all vans pass state inspections and meet Department of Transportation (DOT) and OSHA safety standards. - Notify the Safety Manager of any vehicles that are out of service or pose a safety risk.

Inventory & Parts Management

- Track inventory of tools, parts, and maintenance supplies; make recommendations for reordering as needed. - Order and replace necessary parts in a timely and cost-effective manner, with approval from the Safety Manager.

Fleet Monitoring & Reporting

- Assist in tracking mileage, service intervals, and maintenance schedules for each van. - Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections as requested. - Recommend vehicles for replacement based on age, mileage, and repair history.

Collaboration

- Work closely with the Safety Manager and Transportation Staff to schedule maintenance without disrupting service delivery. - Participate in fleet safety planning and emergency preparedness related to transportation operations.

Qualifications:

Required:

- High school diploma or GED - Minimum of 3 years of experience as an auto mechanic (preferably with fleet or commercial vehicles) - Valid driver’s license and clean driving record - Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and repair equipment - Ability to lift heavy parts and perform physical labor in various weather conditions

Preferred:

- ASE Certification(s) in automotive repair - Experience maintaining 12- to 15-passenger vans or similar commercial vehicles - Familiarity with vehicle scheduling or fleet management systems - Basic knowledge of state DOT regulations

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

- Frequently works in outdoor settings - Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, and crouch for extended periods - Occasionally lifts or moves parts and tools up to 50 pounds - May be exposed to vehicle fluids, noise, and weather elements

Compensation & Benefits:

· Hourly Wage: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour, based on experience, certifications, and skill level

· Schedule: Flexible, 15–25 hours per week

· Classification: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
