About the Role

Description

  Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for supporting the production of aerospace, commercial, and military components fabricated from both metallic and non-metallic (composite and polymer) based materials. Responsibilities will relate to understanding the product requirements and manufacturing processes. Develops production processes, inspection criteria, and testing criteria that will ensure product quality through the different processes. Design and implement tooling and continuous improvements into production processes.

The successful candidate must be “hands on” and able to work both independently and collaboratively, bringing their knowledge of manufacturing to deliver engineering solutions and process improvements. The “hands on” philosophy will include learning how to fabricate the various products and perform the processes used in their fabrication to better aid in implementing improvements.

The successful candidate must be highly motivated and able to thrive in a fast paced production environment. 

  

This position requires the ability to access and work on ITAR-controlled products and technical data. Applicants must be U.S. Persons as defined by ITAR (U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident).


Responsibilities

  • Supports production processes      with respect to product and process clarification. 
  • Maintains engineering product      documentation and drawings.
  • Maintains electronic ERP system      (Epicor), Bill of Operations (BOO) and Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Collaborates with Design Engineers and customers when      needed to understand product and tooling requirements for products in the      design phase.
  • Contributes      to efforts to secure and protect the intellectual property of the business.
  • Supports      relationships with internal and external stakeholders through strong      communication skills.
  • Supports      and collaborates with all other SMR departments accordingly.
  • Continuous      improvement projects to products and/or processes.
  • Evaluates      customer returned goods and implement necessary corrective actions to      prevent the issue from occurring again.
  • Performs      Materials Review Board (MRB) authority for designated products once deemed      capable.
  • Performs      other related duties as required.

Requirements

  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical,      or chemical engineering or a similar degree
  • Experience with elastomeric materials
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • Proficient with AutoCad and/or SolidWorks
