Concrete Finisher - Traveling

Description

At Hi-Way Paving, we are general contractors in the construction field that specialize in significant amounts of concrete paving, storm drainage, and excavation on highways and airfields.

We are seeking experienced Concrete Finishers to join our team and support our slip-form concrete paving operations across multiple project locations. As a Concrete Finisher, you’ll play a key role in smoothing, leveling, and finishing newly paved concrete surfaces at various job sites.

This position requires extensive travel—up to 100%—to job sites across the region, including Charlotte, NC; Nashville, TN; and other future project locations TBD.

What You'll Do:

• Spread, level, smooth, and finish newly poured concrete surfaces, including airfields and highways. 
• Inspect finished concrete for quality and accuracy, ensuring it meets project specifications.
• Monitor the temperature and environmental effects on concrete curing to ensure proper setting.
• Use hand and power tools to complete finishing tasks, including trowels, grinders, and vibrators.
• Work independently and as part of a team to achieve project goals.
• Follow all safety protocols and worksite instructions to ensure a safe working environment.
• Perform other tasks and duties as needed, depending on the project.

Requirements

 What We Look For

• Construction-site labor experience required.
• Heavy or highway construction experience preferred.
• Large-scale concrete pouring or paving finishing experience required (e.g., roads, highways, bridges, etc.) – 3+ years preferred.
• ACI certifications (e.g., Flatwork Finisher) preferred.
• Ability to work safely, make sound judgments, and follow ethical decision-making practices.
• Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to gain clearance for restricted/high-security zones (e.g., airport AOA, military bases).
  • Willingness to travel 100% of the time.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Physical ability to lift 50lbs, climb, walk, kneel, squat, push, pull, and enter confined spaces.
