About the Role

Description

At Hi-Way Paving, we specialize in concrete paving, storm drainage, and excavation for highways and airfields. While we may not have immediate openings, we are always looking for skilled Heavy Equipment/Diesel Mechanics to join our team.


We are looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for repairing and maintaining trucks, trailers, and heavy construction equipment to keep our job sites running smoothly.


This position is based in Charlotte, NC, but it requires flexibility to travel up to 100% to our projects in Nashville, TN and other project site future locations.


What You'll Do:

  • Perform routine and major repairs on trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment.
  • Conduct regular preventative maintenance and inspections.
  • Maintain an organized parts inventory and a clean, safe work environment.
  • Work closely with equipment operators and project managers to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Run diagnostics and track repairs to keep equipment running efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate service records for all work performed.
  • Assist Superintendents and Project Managers with other operational duties as needed.



Requirements

 What We Look For:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic (preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience working with heavy construction equipment (preferred).
  • Valid CDL license with a hazmat endorsement (preferred). Valid driver’s license required.
  • ASE Diesel Certification (preferred).
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends when needed.
  • Must be willing to travel overnight to job sites up to 100% of the time.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Ability to gain clearance for restricted/high-security zones (e.g., airport AOA, military bases).
    • Willingness to travel 100% of the time.
    • Valid driver’s license.
    • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, climb, walk, kneel, squat, push, pull, and enter confined spaces.
    • If applicable, indicate union affiliation in your application.
    •  Must be at least 18 years old to meet job-site safety and labor requirements.

Hi-Way Paving, Inc. is a general contractor in the heavy/civil construction space focusing on projects involving significant amounts of concrete paving on airfields.


We operate in several southeastern and midwestern states with current job sites in Tennessee and North Carolina, as well as corporate/back-office operations in Ohio (our headquarters) and remote locations. We perform most of our work and services as a prime contractor but occasionally serve as a subcontractor on principal contracts with federal, state, and other governmental agencies as well as private owners.
