Microbiology Specialist

Description

As a Microbiology Specialist, you will be responsible for the day-to-day micro-testing requirements for the organization. This includes testing using approved methods, analyzing results, reporting results and maintaining accurate records. This position will own all microlab duties and responsibilities, under the supervision of the FSQA Manager.   This position is 100% onsite at our egg processing plant in Howard Lake, MN.  

Responsibilities 

• Completes daily microbiology testing 
• Read and analyze microbiology test results
• Report all microbiological testing results and documents results in correct format and location 
• Maintain correct records of all microbiological testing
• Maintain Good Lab Practices (GLPs)
• Maintain a clean and kempt microbiology laboratory
• Record and Monitor Lab Equipment parameters, ensuring the validity of results
• Participate and satisfactorily complete all proficiency testing requirements, as established by the management team
• Take inventory of materials and consumables as it relates to the microbiology lab functions
• Sample product, environment or otherwise collect samples as needed
• Complete all other duties and tasks as assigned

Qualifications

• Possess a basic understanding of microbiology
• Minimum amount of education necessary to demonstrate competency with the role’s responsibility
• Ability to read and follow instructions, such as testing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Ability to read and write in English to perform essential job duties 
• Must demonstrate the ability to properly perform the role, such as completing accurate microbiological analyses and reporting of results. 
• Able to perform basic arithmetic 
• Able to use excel and other digital computer programs to report results
