About the Engagement

Are you a strategic grant writer who enjoys building funding pipelines—not just writing one-off proposals?

LifeROOTS, Inc. is a mission-driven nonprofit organization serving individuals with disabilities and employment barriers across New Mexico. We are seeking an experienced Independent Grant Writer to support grant research, planning, and submission over a defined contract period. This role is remote, with periodic virtual meetings as needed.

This is not an employment position. It is a project-based independent contractor engagement, ideal for an experienced grant professional who values clarity, autonomy, and outcomes.

· Research and compile a grant opportunity resource list aligned with organizational priorities

· Develop a Grant Submission Plan identifying approved grant opportunities and deadlines

· Monthly invoicing

· No guaranteed hours

· Contract term: January–June (with potential renewal by mutual agreement)

Ideal Contractor Profile

We are seeking a grant writer who:

· Understands grant strategy, not just grant writing

· Is comfortable advising when a grant is not a good fit

· Communicates clearly and professionally

· Works independently and meets deadlines without micromanagement

· Maintains strict confidentiality and ethical standards

Experience with workforce development, disability services, youth programs, or government funding is a plus.

· Clear scope and defined priorities

· Structured Grant Submission Plan

· Leadership that values preparation and strategy
